Scheduled Merry Maids to clean the apt of my 85 yo mom because they are supposedly bonded, insured and professional. Two cleaners arrived on the day. I let them in and asked them to clean the fridge, the living *********** bathroom. Its an 800 sf apt, of which I asked them to clean half. I had to leave so I dont know when they left. I came back 2 hours later to find the apt looking almost exactly the same. The only thing that looked like it had been touched was the fridge and the floor looked mopped. I texted **** to ask for the total. No response. Next day same thing, I asked for total, no response. Following day I see a charge for $440 USD. Could not believe it. Immediately called to dispute. **** and ******* both acknowledged the poor job and wanted to offer a free cleaning. I dont want to use them ever again. All I want is for them to accept the $160 that I already paid them (2 cleaners @ $80/hr) and for them to leave me alone. I disputed the $280 overcharge because I NEVER agreed to it AND they did a terrible job. Now **** texts me multiple times a week in a harassing manner even though I told him twice to stop contacting me. Terrible customer experience. I never received even one email or document from them - there was no service agreement, no invoice, no disclosures, nothing. This franchise is taking advantage of the national brand name but is actually not a trustworthy cleaning company, certainly not to be working with elderly population.

In Pt 2 above, Merry Maids acknowledges they did a poor job but keep insisting that I pay them for it.

In addition to the text messages, I had several long phone conversations with ******* and *** on April 4, 5, 8, and 12.

I contacted Merry Maids in early February 2024 to arrange a thorough, professional cleaning of my mothers Florida condo, since no one had been there since shortly before Covid. I was easily able to arrange a convenient appointment. The young women who performed the cleaning were very pleasant and seemed competent. I was disappointed that they packed up their equipment and materials before asking me if I wanted them to do anything else. When I did, they had to unpack and repack their items and I believe this unnecessarily prolonged their visit. But much worse, I realized only after they left that they had not done the thorough job I had paid for. While I certainly did not expect them to move heavy furniture, they apparently did not move any item, even a very light chair, to access the floor and wall behind it. When my husband and I later moved these items, we discovered many dead insects, dust and other debris at the baseboards that the ladies could easily have taken care of while they were here. My husband and I took care of it ourselves but this left a poor impression of the thoroughness of Merry Maids. Had we been informed that the staff would not move anything at all, we would have moved these light items out of their way before the workers came.I called the company promptly to report this and was offered to have the ladies return to redo the work but, since we had already taken care of it ourselves, this was not acceptable. I requested a review by management but never heard back.I followed up several times without result and was finally advised to communicate with Management by email, which I did a month ago. Still nothing.I believe a partial refund for the incomplete work and the extra ************************************************************************************************************************* would be appropriate.
