A contract was written and then signed by ***** himself. Unfortunately the problems started nearly immediately. (Same as what others have posted here) He talks a good game, told us he had 4 full time employees and has been in the business for years. He presented pictures from past jobs (no verification these were work he had done, just photos). In the agreement it was stated very clearly that they would start the job and work every day until it was completed, save acts of god. Fast forwarding past the near daily excuses for why they were not doing what they agreed to do, the work quality is sub-par and more in-line with a DIY first timer in my opinion. When they showed up, they would do whatever they felt like doing, complaining about how much work it was and how much its costing them.
He would say, "everything is going great", then you realize almost nothing is done correctly and they appear to be cutting corners at every opportunity. He would say, "I'll be there with a crew at 8Am". They rarely showed up before 1PM so only a half day of work most of the time. A few days they put in a full day, but rarely.
There were a few issues from a permit perspective due to a misunderstanding of the local process, but that was fully resolved, but delayed the project. This delay was not on *****, nor reflected in this note.
A real unprofessional operation.
We found at least one beer can in a wheelbarrow in our back yard one day. I do not know if they were drinking it while working, but it should have never been brought to a job site.
Turns out he doesn't seem to have any actual employees and hires only local labor as each day it was a different crew. Then he would complain about the people he obviously hired that morning for not working hard enough. Essentially blaming everyone else for why his company was doing such poor work.
When the final load of material was to be delivered, I had to bring out the Sheriff department to ensure ***** would not escalate the situation; as he stated on the day of "I will not unload the material unless you give me more money" even though the contract clearly showed I had already paid him what was due. I then paid him in full for the entire job as he claimed he was out of money and was just a small guy trying to make it. I let my compassion ** help a person get in the way of my better judgment and business sense.
After that, when I would not pay more than in the agreement, he started saying he can't get his installers scheduled and eventually just stops showing up and never finished the job, leaving us with thousands of dollars in work do be done that was paid for in full per the agreement.
Finally, while we were out of town for several weeks, where ***** was to finish the job, he only showed up for four days out of 30+. He then offered to fill the pool with water while we were gone. What I found out was that he filled the pool but never cleaned out the debris. He actually left chunks of sharp shards of tile in the pool that someone could have stepped on. He also appeared to try and hide the fact that they dropped mortar in the pool and never cleaned it up, leaving large chucks of mortar that now needs to be chipped out at great expense.
If I could upload pictures here, I would to show the quality of work for your own assessment. At some point, to help others make an informed decision, I may post my personal experience on a blog at brians palms and pavers review dot com

***** seemed like a nice guy, but in the end, he didn't do what he said he would do, never finished the job and was paid in full.
