This is company is not a real business at all and looks to scam people hoping to find a job in the sports or athletic training industries. They post "jobs" on multiple job platforms only to then have the *** pitch business investment offers. They claim to pay salaries, provide event insurance, 401K's, have all these qualified people on their board of directors, promoting their business model as a franchising health initiative, have ***** investors and all the businesses they claim to be partners with on their website, but what I have come to discover a majority of what they promote is false. They only offer contractor positions and even those-a person has to put down a deposit to get...the more you pay the higher the entry position is. Once in with the company as a Contractor, they want you to pay more money to obtain liability insurance coverage and B2B "marketing". They require you obtain a BASE certification which is not owned by Area Scouts as they promote and has no real value at all in terms of a health or athletic training initiative and can only be obtained by using a third party entity to submit required videos instead of the world class leading platform they created to do just this as they claim. Furthermore, you submit the videos to be reviewed by the person who actually owns the right to BASE. This doesn't fall in line at all with the terms in the contract. Then a second certification is required, strength and conditioning and again has no value. Additionally, this specific program is not even complete which I discovered and violates the contract as well. I found no evidence of any athletes on their platform, let alone any ability to service athletes or leads if athletes sign up to be evaluated. And all camps are at the expense of the contractor including paying evaluators, which I never found existed in my area as promoted. I have only met other people who have been scammed by Area Scouts and its ***/Leadership board.

After investigating this claim, and receiving reports from our management team, it was determined that ************** violated Area Scouts Company Policies and TOS under his contractual licensing agreement.

The suspension of the licensing is scheduled to be reviewed on May 20th, 2024.

At that time, ************** will be presented with several options, including the ability to sell his licensing, in the event that he adheres to Area Scouts Company Policies and TOS moving forward.

With regard to some of the claims made by ************** in this report:

Area Scouts offers a variety of positions inside the organization, including, but not limited to contract positions.

Area Scouts is a software platform which has been operating successfully for over 4 years, to help develop athletes and keep them safe.

All information on the Area Scouts Official Website is 100% accurate and true:

      www.areascouts.com

If there are any questions whatsoever about the validity of all of this information, including the trademarks, and ownership rights to all of the copyrights. The Area Scouts Management Team would be happy to provide all legal documents to prove the validity of this information.

      Liability Insurance is required:
For the safety of the kids, Area Scouts does require our representatives to have liability insurance. Representatives are given the option to provide their own proof of liability insurance, or we will proved them with liability insurance, which costs a minimal amount, but is required for the safety of our children.

Area Scouts requires all of our coaches and representatives to become certified through the Area Scouts Platform and our Sports Medicine Team. This is the same team that has been with us since we created the ******** program in 2020. Make no mistake, ******** is legal copyright / intellectual property of Area Scouts, and has been proven to save countless injuries in youth athletes over the years.

Area Scouts contracts with partnerships to deliver athletes to our coaches and representatives, thus requiring a certification process for both our movement assessments (********) and the Strength and Condition Program offered, to assure that the correct product is delivered under these contracts.

With over 5+ years in development, the Area Scouts Platform is 100% fully functional and is still currently adding new features every month, to benefit our coaches and our athletes!

Area Scouts currently has over *****+ Coaches and Representatives registered on the platform, from all over the world.

Every Coach and Representative has a different number of athletes that they work with on the platform.

We have individuals joining our team all the time, for the right reasons, to make a positive impact on youth sports, and are highly successful.

Our Management Team would be happy to share some of the testimonials of coaches that have found success using the Area Scouts Health Initiative in order to help their athletes.

Unfortunately, like any industry, we have also had those individuals who have not been aligned with the Area Scouts Organization and Mission, for various reasons, including, but not limited to failed background checks, discrimination, poor judgement, or those who simply fail to put in an effort. Accountability is something that we believe in. More importantly, the safety of the kids.

The Area Scouts Management Team is always available to discuss any concerns, as our contact information has always been publicly posted on our site at www.areascouts.com.

      Complaint: 21502595

I am rejecting this response because it is the typical cookie cutter response Area Scouts has given to all BBB complaints which represents Area Scouts LLC as the common denominator and for the other reasons listed below.

      1)  there was no completed contract between Area Scouts and I.

      2)  Area Scouts never verified the identity of the person that signed the contract that was sent to me.

      3)  Area Scouts never provided a signed contract by any representative of Area Scouts solidifying any agreement or contract.

      4)  Area Scouts never provided any tax documentation to me.

      5) Area Scouts claims I violated the agreement, but then go on to indicate that I can sell the territory I purchased after this supposed meeting coming up in May. If I was in violation then why would they send me refund proposal that they sent me in November? They contradict themselves in their response which is typical of someone who is lying because they can't keep track of the cookie cutter lies they keep claiming. Furthermore, I rejected it because it was not a full refund and Area Scouts has done nothing to earn any of the $45,990.00 that I paid, which was indicated in my original complaint.

      6) Even had the contract provide been signed by both parties and the identity of both parties identified and confirmed so as to make the contract binding, there is no verbiage stating that:
       a) slander/libel was a disqualifying condition of a full or partial refund.
       b) the sale of any territory was needed for a refund.  Furthermore, selling a territory for a refund was unacceptable as it would mean condoning further fraud, theft, and violation of professional ethics.
      c)  Fraud was already committed by Area Scouts as the territories that I invested in/purchased- Area Scouts does not have an operating business registration in the state I reside in. This explains why they never responded to the ******* **'s office reach out to them when I made the the ** office aware of the issues I was having.

      7)  The spoken and written documentation from *********************** and ************************* about my refund mentioned no qualifiers that were discussed and agreed upon especially not pre agreement.

      8) I did participate in Area Scouts "training" program. Most of the training program is not even able to be documented by Area Scouts as it is stored (and owned by) YouTube.  With BASE-Area Scouts has no way to chart participation because Area Scouts does not own the BASE program they require finishing. It is owned by Physical Therapist who Area Scouts contracts out who only evaluates a limited part of the training.  I participated in and completed all the training videos and exams on-line only to find the product was incomplete and inaccessible to complete as stated in the contract. Which is a breach of contract by Area Scouts. And:

a.) ***************************-told me that he put on Area Scout events and was not BASE certified because it was not needed for an Ambassador License role, because I hire on the certified Area Scout Evaluators to do the BASE assessments. Which again, brings up legal and liability issues since the BASE assessment program is not owned by Area Scouts.

      9) Some of the "products" purchased (liability insurance, B2B, strength and conditioning program, athletes on the platform, growing database of athlete data, data tracking software) don't exist.  I directly asked *********************** (COO) for verification of this and it was not be provided.  It only exists for employees not contractors (which make up close to 98% of Area Scouts).  When I asked *********************** about the B2B group within Area Scouts they were not able to provide me with a single name or contact to get in touch with them despite this group being listed as a primary partnership in the operation and development of the role I has brought on to fulfill.  Furthermore, ***************************** and *************************** who spoke with me initially and supposedly are in charge of vetting people for the license I purchased are not longer on the website and disappeared on it after initial fraud complaints began to grow for Area Scouts. *********************** who is a real person has done nothing except make excuses and tell me I asked good questions and that he would get back with me later then never did which he has not done since November 2023. For example he kept claiming he would be setting up meetings for me so I could interview certified Area Scout Evaluators for my events. Not one meeting was ever set-up nor was any contact information on these supposed evaluators every provided to even after requesting it during 4 weekly zoom meetings.

      10)  Has Area Scouts provided any proof to contradict the accusations and points I have made?  Or are they simply saying it's not true? Furthermore, if Area Scouts could provide proof to dispute these claims as they state they have documentation to provide upon request-then why have then never responded to official state and federal government agencies that have contacted them about such complaints and claims of fraud and operating a ponzi scheme?  I'm apart of growing group of individuals that can support the claims as the same happened with them as well.   Area Scouts is a SCAM, they are committing fraud, and stealing money from people to fill their own pockets while developing nothing.

      Sincerely,

      *******************

      Business response

      04/11/2024

      1) We do in fact have a signed software licensing agreement from **************.
      2) All software licensing agreements & partnerships are signed by an authorized representative of Area Scouts.
      3) All software licensing agreements are delivered to the licensee upon purchase.
      4) Every licensee is required as a contractor to sign tax documents prior to collecting income through the platform. In this particular case, the licensee has done nothing since being onboarded.
5,6,7) The licensee signed an agreement to purchase the software licensing, and the licensee still has the option to sell their license, if they should choose to do so, once the account restriction is released, as of the date given in the above message. In the event that the licensee continues the slander and defamation of the organization, this will automatically terminate this option. This is in the **** and this will be the final warning.
Area Scouts is a software licensing company to help Youth Athletes stay healthy and reach their ceiling, not only here in the U.S., but also Internationally. Area Scouts is legally permitted to sell its software anywhere in the world, as we have been for over 4 years, and currently have over ***** representatives. Unfortunately there will always be the 1% of clients that do not align with our mission.
8,9) All of the Area Scouts ****************************** and "training" programs are the trademarked and owned intellectual property of Area Scouts, and 100% of all of our property is housed on the Area Scouts Servers.
      10) Anyone who wishes to have a full LIVE walkthrough of our business model, our software systems, or anything else that they wish to see proof of, our management team would be more than happy to setup a LIVE zoom and show proof of business model, proof of concept, proof of testimonials and success of other licensees in our program, along with proof of 100% ownership of all intellectual property.

This will be our last response to this claim, as we do not condone the cancel culture mentality.

Anyone who wishes, is welcome to reach out to us at ****************************** if you would like to meet with any of our team on a LIVE zoom. Area Scouts will continue add coaches to our program, to help countless youth athletes reach their goals, and help them stay healthy!

      Sincerely,
      Area Scouts Management

      Complaint: 21502595

I am rejecting this response because:

      1) Area Scouts doesn't have a signed software licensing agreement from me. What they have is a signed Ambassadors Licensing Agreement for the ****** ******* area which they never signed or returned a signed copy of the agreement by both parties that had been notarized by officially licensed notaries.

      2) All software licensing agreements & partnerships might be signed by an authorized representative of Area Scouts, but again I have never received such documentation that has been verified by a officially licensed public notary.

      3) Again, I never signed software licensing agreements I signed a independent contractor Area Ambassador license agreement, that was only that in title because the language in the contract was for a independent contractor "Evaluator". This is how corrupt Area Scouts LLC is, because they just change the title of the contracts but don't actually change the terminology and terms of the contract to fit the positions and licensing agreements that they advertise. Which is fraud.

      4) Every licensee is required as a contractor to sign tax documents prior to collecting income through the platform. In this particular case, the licensee has done nothing since being onboarded. -This statement is a complete lie because I have a copy of the tax document I filled out and emailed to ************************************ that I was instructed to do and I have a copy of that sent email. Attached with this complaint. And I can certainly send a copy of the tax documentation securely to the BBB if they request it. Again, Area Scouts tells so many lies they cannot keep track of them all. Their statement on this matter is proof of that.

5,6,7) In response to these points:

Again, Area Scouts LLC never returned a signed agreement to me that they signed with a official notarized signature. Furthermore, Area Scouts LLC refers to account restriction, but the account and resources in the account are all bogus which has been pointed out in my and others original complaints and first rejections of their response. They are restricting access to a platform that is not functional in any way nor provides me or anyone else with what they advertised and put in the terms of the agreement. So Area Scouts is in breach of the agreement that they never signed and again are committing fraud. Again, the terms of service was never signed and notarized by Area Scouts LLC and what they state about slander and defamation is false, because I and others are not lying about what we experienced in terms of fraud by Area Scouts LLC and it's *** and COO. I will be more than happy to provide the BBB a copy of the agreement I received from Area Scouts LLC so they can review it and see this claim is response by Area Scouts LLC is false. Area Scouts LLC, its' *** etc can give as many warnings as they want. They are the ones that have refused to respond to state and federal agencies that have reached out to them as well as law enforcement agencies which speaks for itself.

Area Scouts promotes itself as a software licensing company to help youth athletes, etc but, what they have shown myself and a growing number of other people that gave them money is that they are a Ponzi Scheme designed to steal people's money through fraud and deception. In the **************** Area Scouts LLC is not a registered business with the ******* Secretary of State. Again, the *** makes all these claims, but for starters the business is not registered under him and he has never provided any tangible proof to back up these claims by uploading documentation in response to the BBB. Furthermore, in Area Scouts first response they made reference to "BASE", but now are trying to switch gears to push this software licensing company narrative which contradicts what it has promoted previously and shows they cannot keep track of their lies.

8,9) The points they make in 8 and 9 are irrelevant and their training program was not fully finished to be able to complete as well as their platforms and resources not being functional as well. Again, no one is contesting that they do not own the software, platform or crm system, these systems are not functional they are just for show and why I never receive any training on them. The BASE program which is not software etc is not owned by them it is owned by a physical therapist that they contract out to assess peoples knowledge of the program.

      10) Again, this something that is not being contested and they can push this narrative as much as they want, but the fact is there is growing number of people that have been scammed by Area Scouts LLC and its *** plus COO. We been in communication and have shared all the same issues that we have all had happened which is Area Scouts talks and promotes this lucrative business opportunities, etc but simply does not have the actual infrastructure, personnel and resources to back any of it up. Which is fraud. Again, the reality is Area Scouts LLC is out to scam people.

Furthermore, the response about "cancel culture mentality" just shows the level of ignorant deception the *** tries to push thinking that, that type of response will exonerate him when again he has never provided any proof like I and others have. The *** can cut off my access to the platform which I have provided a screen shot of, because he does not want me to be able to allow the BBB or law enforcement or other consumer protection agencies to have access to the platform to see for themselves how non-functional it is to what Area Scouts LLC promotes and advertises.

      Sincerely,

      *******************

      Business response

      02/12/2024

After investigating this claim, and receiving reports from our management team, it was determined that ************ was not qualified to fill the salaried position in which he applied for. ************ was then offered a contract position and opted on his own to purchase licensing with Area Scouts to help develop athletes and keep them safe. This is the what Area Scouts and its coaches and representatives have been doing for over 4+ years.

For the safety of the kids, Area Scouts does require our representatives to have liability insurance. Representatives are given the option to provide their own proof of liability insurance, or we will proved them with liability insurance at our cost, which typically saves all of our coaches and representatives a significant amount of money.

With over 5+ years in development, and millions of dollars in construction, The Area Scouts Platform is 100% fully functional and is currently hosted on 3 different servers, in 3 different countries, including *****************. Area Scouts has over *****+ Coaches and Representatives from all over the world on the platform. Every Coach and Representative has a different number of athletes that they work with on the platform. There are also over 50 Area Scouts Management and Operation team members today, with most of them working remotely At Home, as our industry requires the flexibility to travel when working with our athletes.

      With regards to this:
there are no where near enough evaluators to pull off their proposed business plan

This is accurate! Even with *****+ coaches and representatives joining our team, in less than 4 years, we will need many more, in order to complete our mission of saving millions of injuries every year in youth sports! We anticipate this will take us another 5+ years to be able continue to build our team, in order to assist the number of youth athletes that are falling to injuries daily.

Just like any industry, we have individuals who join our team for the right reasons, to make a positive impact on youth sports, and are highly successful.

We have also had those individuals who have not been aligned with the Area Scouts Organization and Mission, for various reasons, including, but not limited to failed background checks, discrimination, poor judgement, or those who simply fail to put in an effort. Accountability is something that we believe in. More importantly, the safety of the kids.

Having grown incredibly fast over the last few years, over *****+ registered coaches and representatives, it is our responsibility to our clients (partnerships, parents and their children) to maintain a high level of quality control when building our team. In this process, again, as with any industry, there will always be a small percentage of individuals that will simply not align with our mission and our standards.

We do currently possess additional information pertaining to this particular claim, If anyone wishes to speak to a member of our management team with regards to this, we would be happy to setup a meeting.

      Thank You

      ear BBB Community Members,

We would like to address a negative allegation made against Area Scouts, and provide a more accurate perspective on our operations and practices.

Area Scouts is committed to offering legitimate opportunities in the sports industry. It is not our intention to deceive or scam anyone seeking a career in sports. We would like to clarify the following points raised in the negative statement:

      1. Job Offerings: We do post job opportunities on various job boards, but these opportunities are genuine and not merely a facade for pitching business investments. We do offer a variety of positions, including contractor roles, which are commonly utilized in the sports industry.
      2. Compensation and Benefits: While we primarily offer contractor positions, we do provide competitive compensation packages to our contractors. The claim that these positions are only accessible by paying more money is not accurate.
      3. Certifications: The BASE certification we require has value not only to Area Scouts but also to ************* looking to advance their careers in sports. The use of a third-party service for video submissions is to ensure fairness and impartial evaluation, not to undermine our own platform.  Our certification program is meticulously crafted by a team of experts, including a ******* ************* from the field of sports medicine, and accomplished professional athletes. This collaborative effort guarantees that our programs offer a genuine and well-structured curriculum tailored for the development of youth athletes.
      4. Strength and Conditioning Certification: Our Strength and Conditioning program is under development to enhance the skills of our contractors. While it may not be universally recognized yet, we are committed to its value and relevance within the sports industry.
      5. Athletes and Evaluators: We are actively working to populate our platform with athletes and recruit evaluators to fulfill our business plan. We understand the importance of building a strong network within the sports community.
      6. Costs and Expenses: Contractors are responsible for their expenses related to camps and evaluations as it is common in the sports industry. However, we do not require contractors to pay evaluators.
      7. Success Stories: We have had individuals who have found success and growth within our organization, beyond our executives. We encourage open communication and transparency within our community.
We take this allegation seriously, and we are committed to addressing any concerns or grievances from our community members. We encourage anyone who has questions or requires clarification to reach out to our customer support team directly. We are continuously working to improve our offerings and provide legitimate opportunities for those passionate about the sports industry.

      Sincerely,

      Area Scouts Team

I am rejecting this response because:  It is largely false and does not address the detail and points of my complaint.  Despite Area Scouts providing in ******* that they would provide me with a 100% refund of my funds, they have yet to do so and it has been months since that request and confirmation.  Instead, Area Scouts, *************************, and *********************** have begun simply ignoring my calls, texts, and emails in an effort to get status updates and find out where my money is and when I can expect my refund.

I provided my responses to Area Scout's responses in the attached document.  My responses follow theirs point by point and are typed in bold red.  Please let me know if you need any further information or have any questions.  Thank you.

      Hello Complaint,

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing regarding the length of time it's taking to process your refund. However, your slander of the company, due to your own breach of the agreement, is why you have not received the funds from the purchase of your territory.   We provided written plans to provide you a refund upon the sale of your territory.  We provided this plan to refund you even though you did not uphold your end of the partnership while with our platform, which normally excludes people from eligibility for a refund.  The answers to all of our original points are off base, and maybe due to the fact your were not involved in learning about Area Scouts, and getting trained on our processes, like you originally told us you would do.  We are still diligently working to sell your territory, however, as long as your slander remains online, this situation will mostly likely continue in terms of timing delays because you are making it very difficult to sell your territory.  Please feel free to reach out to us to have a cordial conversation about your situation.

      Regards,

      5) ****** is only slander if it is not factual and true.  In this case anything *********************** has said about Area Scouts "online" has been 100% factual supportable by evidence.

      6) Even had the contract provide been signed by both parties and the identity of both parties identified and confirmed so as to make the contract binding, there is no verbiage stating that

                 a) slander was a disqualifying condition of a full or partial refund.

                 b) the sale of any territory was needed for a refund.  Also I told you upon later hearing that this excuse was given to postpone any refund was unacceptable as it would mean condoning further fraud, theft, and violation of professional ethics.  Not to mention the person who's job it was to re-sell my territories is no longer with Area Scouts and no update or contact with the replacement sales person has been provided.

                c)  Fraud was already committed by Area Scouts as the territories that I invested in/purchase already belonged to another contractor, so you double sold the same territories and having spoken with the other territory owner, I know NO refund was provided to him once the territory was sold to me.  This gives me no assurances that any refund will come as a result of territories sold.

      7)  The spoken and written documentation from *********************** about my refund mentioned no qualifiers that were discussed and agreed upon especial not pre agreement.  ****** email response was only after agreement that no qualifiers were needed or required for the refund and that I strongly objected to the need for this given the situation.

      8) I did participate in Area Scouts "training" program.  Most of the training program and is not even able to be documented by Area Scouts as it is stored (and owned by) YouTube.  Base can be charted and perhaps zoom meeting participation... both of which I participated in... only to find the product was incomplete and inaccessible.

      9) Some of the "products" purchased (liability insurance, B2B, strength and conditioning program, athletes on the platform, growing database of athlete data, data tracking software) don't exist.  I directly asked *********************** and ************************* for verification of this and it was not be provided.  It only exists for employees not contractors (which make up close to 98% of Area Scouts).  When I asked ***** and ***** about the B2B group within Area Scouts they were not able to provide me with a single name or contact to get in touch with them despite this group being listed as a primary partnership in the operation and development of the role I has brought on to fulfil.  ***** and ***** themselves were often not available for meetings or did not respond to emails, texts, or phone calls when trying to obtain training, answer questions etc... ***** was my onboarding manager.  He did nothing except make excuses and tell me I asked good questions and that he would get back with me later then never did.

      10)  Has Area Scouts provided any proof to contradict the accusations and points I have made?  Or are they simply saying it's not true?  I have a growing group of individuals that can support my claims as the same happened with them as well.  Area Scouts is a SCAM, they are committing fraud, and stealing money from people to fill their own pockets while developing nothing.

      Sincerely,
