A StormUnited rep showed up at my house wanting to talk to me storm damage, basically the roof. We talked and I asked what the estimated cost to tarp the roofs, house and detached garage. The rep said approximately four to six hundred dollars, that sounded fair. I said go ahead and tarp the roof. They brought a couple of tarps and were done in about an hour. Then I asked the rep about an estimate for both roofs, and he said approximately $15,000 dollars, again not bad. When StormsUnited contacted the insurance company the new price for putting on the tarps was $1,875, then I then get an invoice for $4,320, that seems excessive for about an hour of work. Three different prices sent up a big red flag. The new price for the roofs was over $24,000, another big red flag. When I question the rep on how the estimates get so inflated, he said, that is what the insurance company is willing to pay us. They did not get the job. Based on my experience, I would be extremely careful hiring Storms United unless you have everything on paper to the dollar for the repairs before moving forward. In my opinion and in my case, I think StormsUnited were taking advantage of elderly people in a unfortunate situation because of a natural disaster (Hurricane). There is just something wrong when telling people one thing and telling the insurance company another thing.
