Mighty Dog Roofing added four sheets of plywood for potential plywood replacement up to four sheets and any sheets after four sheets owner would pay 115.00 per sheet for repairs. After they open roof to expose plywood there were not any sheets of plywood to replace. So I asked for a credit for the four sheets of plywood. Mighty Dog Roofing said no.Business response

Hello *******, after the discussions that we've had I'm disappointed you feel it necessary to post a negative review on the BBB. I have explained to you that we include 4 sheets of plywood replacement for 'free' in all proposals. Only after 4 sheets of plywood have been replaced will we charge the customer any funds for additional wood replacement. Customers are not entitled to a refund for any of the initial 'free' sheets of plywood that are not installed.
Here is the exact wording in your proposal: "- Conduct a complete inspection of the decking & replace all rotted or damaged wood. (4 pieces of 1/2''x4x8 plywood included). Plywood that exceeds 4 sheets will be replaced at a price of $110 per sheet."
Here is the language used in the original email sent to you along with the proposal. "A thorough inspection of all decking will be conducted. Any rotten or damaged plywood will be removed. I have included up to 4 pieces of 4ft by 8ft plywood in this estimate for no additional cost. "
Nowhere in the agreement does it suggest that refunds will be provided for material included that is not used. By this logic we would be providing refunds for every nail that is not installed.
We work very hard to make sure that our customers have an amazing experience when working with Mighty Dog Roofing. It's disappointing to see some customer look to take advantage of us but it does happen. Example: when we sent our final invoice to you, you cut a check less the funds that you felt you should be receiving a refund for related to the material. There was no discussion about this, you simply did it and stated that you felt like we were trying to rip you off. I calmly explained that is not the case and that we include 4 sheets of plywood in all proposals free, only after using 4 pieces of plywood to we charge the customer for a 5th. It's a differentiator for us to stand out from other contractors. We do not pad our pricing to account for this. You continued to tell me that you did not believe me and that's not how 'business works'. At the end, you'll recall that I suggested we stop the conversation, that the project ended wonderfully and that we simply would not agree to each-other's points of view. I accepted your payment, less the funds that you removed on your own accord for the unused plywood. I was moving on after this. Then you called me 2 days later and said that I could come by and pickup the remaining payment. I was very happy to hear this of course, and I appreciated it. About a week later I see this negative review come through on BBB.
While I still disagree with your point of view on this topic, I do take your feedback to heart and we've already added additional language to our paperwork in an effort to prevent this situation in the future, so we thank you for that. "There are no refunds for unused material, including plywood decking."
I do not feel that a refund for the plywood is reasonable given my explanations above. First, we make it clear in the agreement and client communications that the 4 sheets of plywood are included at 'no cost'. Second, by this logic we would be refunding every customer for all material that is not used.
Thank you all for consideration of this complaint and response, I am happy to provide whatever other information or detail would be helpful.
******** thank you for your business and we wish you well.

********
All I can say is you are incorrect. I have the call logs...I can clearly see when I was called and told to come back for the check and it was not the same day.
By the way, the initial check payment is dated 10/6, the second check for $440 is dated 10/9, three days later. If BBB accepts images of checks I'd be happy to provide them. Finally, fearing confrontation from your end our meetings are also recorded and time stamped on my iphone.
Also to clarify, the amount in question is $440, not $460.
You clearly have a point of view that we include a 'cost' of these 4 sheets of plywood in our proposals, we don't. And this is despite my explaining that we don't several times. Here is the exact wording from the email sent to you along with the initial proposal:
"A thorough inspection of all decking will be conducted. Any rotten or damaged plywood will be removed. I have included up to 4 pieces of 4ft by 8ft plywood in this estimate for no additional cost. "
At this point the continued conversation is unhealthy and unproductive. I don't appreciate the name calling and I'm hoping that the BBB step in here to resolve the issue.
