The owner Brian White was arrested yesterday for scamming Charlotte County residents

Having done business with Brian, now the owner, previously we trusted him to do another good job for us. On budget, on time and workmanship and quality like our previous experience several years earlier. Nope! He only took a check for the 50% deposit, no credit card. That was late in October of 2023. It took weeks to get him back with the color choices so we could get the required engineering and insurance documents necessary for our HOA approval. The insurance documents were wrong several times, supposedly because the Harpers employee helping with them was new. Turns out it was his daughter, Morgan. Once we finally had everything into the HOA we got approval late in December. Calling this company was a nightmare. Nobody ever picks up! There is a phone tree to various individuals, all of which always went to voicemails. Voicemails were rarely ever returned. Even Brian’s personal cell phone was never answered and went to voicemail, if his voice wasn’t already full. So frustrating! Turns out that the city has a statute that any contractor that takes money upon contract signing MUST file for the building permit within 30 days. Harpers never filed for the mandatory building permit! Finally stopped by unannounced in mid-February and was told Brian was out of town on a family emergency. ***** told me he’d look into our order and an elderly woman, *****, appeared to see what was going on. Said she was the grandmother helping out. Said ****** was waiting on hear that we had HOA approval before starting. Told her about the 30 day permit stipulation. She said they always wait for HOA approval and ****** said she never got my voicemail. Told me she would get firm install date on Monday. Went home and found I had previously wmailed ******, Brian, ***** and others informing them of HIA approval. Sent certified letter that afternoon cancelling contract and requesting full refund. No response by anyone. Recently filed in small claims court, along with a long list of customers.

pool cage finally done after Hurricane **** cage looks great. installers were very nice. Took a while but very satisfied with the job.A constructive criticism would be to have someone to answer the phone. very frustrating to have to deal with voice mail (a major cause of frustration).

I have to agree with all the other reviews. Harper's 1980 LLC is not a reputable company. We were to have a pool cage installed in December of 2023 due to Hurricane Ian damage. We contracted with them and gave them a deposit in February 2023. After numerous attempts to contact them we were told at the earliest the installation would not happen until possibly July.

Harpers completed our beautiful pool cage last week - the wait was lengthy, but once construction began, it went quickly, and the result is worth it. The crew was professional, efficient, and skilled - this is a long-established company that did everything right, from being licensed, experienced, obtaining permits, to site cleanup. We saw a neighbors cage go up sooner than ours, also damaged by ***, by a competing companywith results that required hiring another contractor to come in and fix mistakes. Harpers did it right the first time. Great job!
