Insurance company made a huge huge error and removed me off of my home owners insurance policy and replaced me with my son's name and daughter inlaws name told me I had to wait days to correct I need this fixed asap I have a mortgage and now I am not insured due to a clerical error this should have been fixed the first day that this error occurred. I am very very upset also my premium went up $800 dollars I thought this was due to Hurricane *** but came to find out it was due to me being removed and my son added in my place. I am owed the difference and I do not want to wait one more day. I have been a customer since May of 2021.Chapman Insurance Group Response

Dear ******,
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced with your policy and understand the importance of accurate insurance information. Upon investigation, our team found the initial error occurred on your carrier's side - our team has ensured this has since been rectified and corrected on their end. We understand and empathize with the unexpected rise in premium, and are happy to review your policy with you to ensure clarity on why that took place; however, we cannot discuss those details in this message as your privacy is important to us. Your satisfaction remains our priority, and we genuinely appreciate your patience.
Thank you,

So I want to start at the beginning My mortgage company told me I needed to get flood insurance due to the **** flood zone change as of December, 22 2022. I call CIG to speak to someone about the situation. I was put through to *****************************. We discussed the new flood zone situation. I told her that I was pretty sure that my home was above the flood plane and asked her if there was anything I could do about it. She told me in no uncertain terms that there is nothing you can do about it. She also said It doesnt matter if youre 30 feet above the flood plane you must buy and maintain flood insurance. Because she was so adamant about it, I came to the Chapman office and bought flood Insurance at her desk. We discussed the situation further. She was nasty and **** and acted as though she was doing me a favor. I was very taken back but I bought the insurance still upset with the whole situation. Mostly because I knew that my home sat higher than most homes in my neighborhood. At that point, I asked her point blank, If I show that my home is above the flood plane, and that I dont need flood insurance, do I get the premium back? She said **** went home and thought about it more, and decided on my own to take action. I called **** directly. The **** representative was very helpful. They told me that If my home is at or above the flood plane, that I should not be required to carry flood insurance. At that point I had an Elevation Certification done for my home. The certification confirmed that my home is in fact is above the flood plane. So with the help of a Charlotte County rep. and a **** rep. I applied for a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) to ****. It took almost 60 days, but **** confirmed my home is above the flood plane. Every step of the way I sent all updated documentation to ******************************She is by far the worst customer service representative Ive ever dealt with. Spoke to the owner *****. I was told prorated to cancelation date.. "Too Bad"Chapman Insurance Group Response

Dear John,
Thank you for taking the time on Thursday, June 22nd to further discuss your experience with our CEO Brian C******. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused you.
Due to the changes to the flood maps by FEMA last December, many homes not previously in a flood zone were rezoned by FEMA and have since been considered as a part of the flood zone on the new maps. Because of these changes, those who previously were not required to carry flood insurance become required by FEMA to have coverage–this coverage is either automatically assigned or you do have the option to buy the required coverage through a carrier of your choosing. We understand how confusing and difficult this situation has been to both you and all those affected, and we appreciate you taking the time to be proactive in your approach to contact FEMA directly to clarify the requirements, obtain an elevation certification for your home and apply for (and successfully receive) an amendment to your flood zone, effective starting the end of last month.
Again, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience and negative experience you had with both our company and in resolving your flood zone requirements changes. We remain committed to providing excellent customer service and will take the necessary steps to prevent such issues from occurring in the future by better informing our clients when these changes happen. We value your feedback and appreciate the opportunity to have further discussed this with you. Thank you, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.Review from Tim M

Good morning ***,
I took the time to review this in detail on our side. Most carriers require a closing document to show you sold the property and make sure they cancel for the proper date when your ownership ceased. Because you insisted this was the not the insurance companies business to see your closing documents, we made a phone call to them. They agreed to just simply take a signed document and cancel it based off of the date on that document.
The policy was cancelled within 10 days, and a check was being processed (and expediated) due to our advocating on behalf of you with the carrier.
If you feel as if Chapman Insurance Group did not meet your expectations in this, please allow us to contact you to resolve this situation. If you feel your frustration is more directed at the carrier that was providing coverage and the cancellation, we would ask that you modify or remove your 1-star review toward us. We are not the insurance company, but your advocate and trusted advisor in these situations.
