I was quoted one price and now they are not willing to make the adjustments and threating to cancel my policy if I do not pay the remaining balance which I was informed would be $55.37 and that is what I paid now they are indicating that I have a balance of $19.00

      Business response

      07/12/2024

      Hello ******************,

You are correct that you did request a change to your auto policy on 05/13/2024 to lower the premium from $66.85 to $55.37 per month. State Farm does not process policy changes immediately, so there is a lag from when the agent's office submits a change to when State Farm corporate processes it.

With that said, you paid your first installment of six in the amount of $49.35 on 05/28/2024. You paid the remainder of the balance due on 06/19/2024 in the amount of $17.50 for a total payment of $66.85. Because you had overpaid installment one of six, there was a balance due for installment two of six in the amount of $44.66.  You paid that on 06/19/2024 in the amount of $44.66. If you add up what you paid in total for both of those first two installments, that equals $111.51. That number divided by two equals $55.75, which is very close to the expected amount due of $55.37. In addition to this, installment three of six has been billed with an amount due of $48.07.

With that said, I think it should be clear that you have not been overcharged.  You had to pay more for your first installment payment after your policy renewal, but that was corrected after the policy change was processed and the billing department was notified of the change in premium.  You can also see the attached PDF document that *** make it easier to understand as well.

Have a good day and please let us know if you have any more question or concerns.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************************, Office Manager

Purchased a renters policy in addition to my auto insurance back in July 2020 with the agent Bill who is no longer with the company. My policy no longer shows and has been canceled in September when I also made an additional payment for $25.60 on Sept 10 and now I am told my policy was canceled on Sept 16 with no notice, letter, email, text or phone call. No one knows where my payment is but yet it was taken from my account. No onw can see the policy any longer on my side or their end. I need this policy yet now they are asking me for more money to reinstate the policy that should have been been canceled. They won't refund my money as they claim they can not see the payment even after I emailed Darsey confirmation of Septembers payment.

      Business response

      02/01/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/01/12) */ To Whom It May Concern: Pasted below this text is an email that was sent to Ms. ******* on 01/11/2022. The gist of what occurred is that she contacted our office in late June regarding wanting a renters insurance policy. Our former employee, Bill ******** quoted the coverage with an effective date of 06/22/2021. She called our office back on 06/28/2021 (see attached note) stating that she wanted to go ahead with the policy so it was bound as-is and marked as awaiting payment from a monthly billing account. Over the course of the following month, our office was not successful with collecting payment with multiple contact attempts. Notes in our system state that the repeated phone calls were made to her with no answer and no ability to leave a voicemail. An email was also sent to her advising her to call in to make a payment. When State Farm did not receive payment in time to issue the policy, they notified her via letter that they would not be issuing the policy. She was mailed a bill separate from that letter for the time period that State Farm offered coverage on this bound application. Ms. ******* paid that amount due for the three months of coverage (06/22/2021 to 09/16/2021) on 09/09/2021 in the amount of $25.60. She is stating that she believed that payment would be paying for coverage going forward, but that is just not the case. She did call our office today to pay for and bind coverage on a new renters policy. Sincerely, Christopher ******** ========================== From: Christopher ******** Sent: Tuesday, January 11, 2022 4:24 PM To: '******************@yahoo.com' <******************@yahoo.com> Cc: Darcy ******* <******************@statefarm.com> Subject: RE: EXTERNAL payment Good afternoon Ms. *******, Darcy sent me your email correspondence because she said that you wanted to speak to a manager about this situation. As you may remember, I am the Office Manager at Jeff ***** State Farm and I have assisted you with other billing concerns in the past. I have looked over this situation in depth and would like to detail my findings with you. Bill ******* issued a binder of insurance for renters policy 79-CU-H186-2, effective on 06/22/2021. From the moment a binder is issued on an application, coverage exists on the policy whether payment has been made or not. There are multiple notes from multiple team members over the following month attempting to contact you regarding collecting payment for that policy. All mentioned that they had difficulty getting a hold of you and mentioned issues specifically with your phone and no ability to leave a voicemail. Because State Farm did not receive payment within their time limit to issue the policy, the policy was set to not issue effective on 09/16/2021. A bill was mailed to you on 08/17/2021 in the amount of $25.60, which was a charge for the time period that the policy would be in effect. As you know, you paid that amount due on 09/09/2021. That payment was only to pay for the coverage on the policy while it was in effect, which was from 06/22/2021 to 09/16/2021. The policy was already set to not issue by the payment date, and a letter was mailed to your address on 08/20/2021 stating that. I am sorry if you did not receive that letter, but it was mailed by State Farm Corporate to the address that we had on file for you at the time. That address is as follows: ******* L *******, *** ******* Fleet **** Apt **** ******* ****** FL XXXXX-XXXX. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to reinstate this policy or refund the money that you paid toward it since coverage was provided for a three month time period. Darcy produced a new renters quote which I believe she has gone over with you. The quoted premium for this new policy is $102.00 per year, or $8.50 per month. If you decide to start that policy, please let her know as she will need to take payment for that ASAP. Thank you for your time and have a good evening. Sincerely, Chris
