June 15, 2021 I met with Miller Screen. Over six months ago I signed the proposal for Miller's Screen and Repair to build a craft/computer room with walls and windows and to screen in the Lanai. They cashed the $11,000 deposit June 15 2021. $10,000 check and $1,000 credit card. They were the "only" people in town who had the supplies in stock, the job was scheduled to be complete in 2-3 months. The only thing they have done to date is pull the building permit 6 months ago, which has expired. I learned and approached Miller's salesman that the windows for the craft/computer room need to be REMOVED at winds up to 75 MPH, per the Manufacturer, the County Building Inspector and the Miller's Screen engineering specs. There is no Building Code on the paperwork Miller's gave me, and Miller's Salesman is adamant that no Building Code exists, and vinyl/acrylic windows stay in place. The footer to support the walls and windows for the craft/computer room was never inspected, Per City Inspector. Miller's Screen has since given me a choice.. purchase hurricane impact windows, forget the craft/computer room altogether, or continue as planned, with a statement that there is no return on my deposit. I have been trying to reach out to the Miller's salesman, office receptionist, the owner, Blake ******, the "contact us" button on their website and even a review, and I cannot get anyone to answer, let alone an appointment to talk about this situation. If I do, appointments are not kept, and still the communication is seldom... The salesman tells me to redesign my new home, like he doesn't want to do this job. In November I told Miller's to stop all production until we can communicate. These people change what was written on paper. They haven't done anything except give me an expired proposal, an expired permit, and Miller's Screen and Repair still has my $11,000. How long should I be waiting? Miller's Screen is working this fraud with Coastal Pavers.

      Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/01/10) */ Ms. ******, As we have stated in numerous emails and in our contract; while your deposit is non-refundable, we have also communicated to you several times that we are willing to build you the enclosure of your choice with or without the custom windows that were ordered for your job. Since you chose to stop construction on the job, the ball is in your court, as to when you would like to resume the building of your enclosure. We would appreciate communicating with you directly, rather than having you post your grievances on a public platform. This is a situation that would like to work out with you to your satisfaction, while still maintaining the terms of your contract. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/01/19) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Your contract says to allow 2-3 months to complete installation. You never began anything. There is nothing to resume. It's going on 8 months and now you offer to maintain the terms of the contract? You never spoke to me before...even your office staff won't answer the phone. I've been texting you, quite often, for months! Trying to get together for an answer since early November about the vinyl/acrylic panels and the non-disclosed Florida Building Code that you are in denial of... You say you do not remove the windows, but the Florida Building code says you do. No, Mr. ******, the ball is in your court and has been since the day you told me we were waiting for an answer from Mitch, your manufacturing rep. I'll take a refund. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/01/27) */ Ms. ****** has been informed numerous times that the contract she signed states a nonrefundable deposit. This is a custom project with windows, which are custom made to her specific openings. We offered Ms. ****** three types of windows, Hurricane, Impact and Acrylic. She had seen a project with acrylic windows in her community and this was her choice. We had engineering and permitting working on her project. When we were ready to start construction, she stated to stop the construction and that the windows were no long what she wanted. As you will see attached, there have been recent texts between her and our Sale Manager, Mark ******* to no resolve and we have tried to do all we can do. We still offer to build a screen room without windows, but she hasn't responded to it. Ms. ****** is free to call Mark ****** at XXX-XXX-XXXX to make arrangements to proceed with building an enclosure and applying her deposit funds towards the project. There is no need to continue calling the office as she already has the phone number for Mark ******* who is the person she needs to continue communicating with. Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/01/29) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Mr. ******, Your contract says to allow 2-3 months to complete installation. You forgot to start! At 4+ months out, you still had not started and we began disagreeing about the Florida Building Code stating to "Remove the acrylic windows in winds in excess of 75 MPH". You disagree with following the FBC and you insist I will not have an issue during a hurricane. Remember, we are still waiting on Mitch, your manufacturing Rep's answer about the validity of the FBC for this product. You forgot to answer. I paid $7,935 in full to your subcontractor who paved the lanai without having the footer inspected where you planned to place the wall and windows. I have already tried to call, email, and text your Salesman, and your office, and you, Mr. ******. It didn't work well. I have learned the best way of communication is through a public platform. It's not nice for you to keep someone's $11,000 for services never rendered. It's going on 8 months now... I will take a refund.

Millers was hired to install a screen room on a existing patio. It was installed in the wrong place and when I approached them I was told to accept the wrong location. It has been 16 days since anyone has been here to work. It is half completed in the wrong place. They are refusing to correct the problem. They were not supposed to cut the gutter or attach to the soffit and they did both. It needs to be lowered and the damage corrected.
