On 2/17/2023 Jim L***, the Owner/Operator of Tree Barber came to my house and gave me an estimate to remove a tree and a palm tree. He stated his business required an advance payment of 25% to guarantee the rental of the equipment needed. I gave him a check for $825. On 2/22/23 he returned to do the job. Although he only cut the palm tree. He did it nice and easily. Two days later, on 2/24/23 he returned to supposedly cut the major tree. Then he realized he could not climb it so he needed equipment. He left that morning and never came back. I have texted him several times but he has given me different excuses. Finally on 3/7/23 I told him that if he didn't feel comfortable o capable to cut the tree it was okay, I could try to locate a different company to do so. He agreed to return to me $525 from the advanced payment I had given him. As of today I have not been able to receive my money back. I have sent him several text messages with no luck. One of his last messages was that I was harassing him while he was working trying to make my money. On Monday 3/20/23 I sent him a text message asking him to pay me by today. He has chosen not to read my message. So, I do not have any other option than to file this complaint. Hopefully he can simply return the money he did not earn. His quote indicated $3,000 for the tree and $300 for the palm tree. Jim L*** owes me $525. If needed I also have all text messages. By the way today a different company has finally cut down my endangered tree.
