I hired a contractor on 10/7/21 who not only didn't complete the job, he insisted on me paying him every step of the way when I didn't want to pay until the job was finished. I got him to write me a letter stating that he would not spend my final check ($1400) until the job was completed but he spent it. The total job was over $10,000. However, every single part of the job was done incorrectly and incomplete. I have photos. I paid another $350 to have my toilet reset. I closed on the condo on 10/18 and could only move in mid-December because the toilet had been leaking. I changed the initial completion date from 10/30 to 11/6 and it still wasn't complete in mid-Dec. I have been hiring handymen to complete the job. I gave him 3 weeks and he still wasn't finished at 5 weeks and it's only 595 square feet. Doors weren't put back, shelves not in, electric not complete, and plumbing as well not finished. The paint job is horrible. He also still has my paint (Sherwin Williams - 6 gallons for a 595 sf place). He said it's in his storage as well as other items I purchased for the job. The total for items he took and didn't return is $554.44. He refuses to return them, which I'm pretty sure is theft. I never received a contract or invoice. Highly unprofessional, dishonest and definitely incompetent.Business response

Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2022/03/01) */ Erick left me a voicemail on 2/14. The Consumer Protection Investigator at the County let me know she can be a mediator in this situation. I would prefer that and not deal directly with Erick.
