We hired this company to do a job and we were required to pay half up front. $6200 and this company took our money and never came back to do the work.Initial Complaint

I contracted All About Concrete & Stoneworks to widen my driveway and raise my porch and patio areas. We agree on a date on May 17th, 2022 to have the work started on Monday July 25th,2022. I gave a deposit of half the total cost of the job, of $2078.50 on May 19th, 2022, in agreement for them to start at 8:00 AM. On Monday July 25th, 2022 at 8:00 AM no one showed. I waited 2 hrs and called to inquire of what time they would be arriving. I was told they would not be able to make it because they were running a week behind due to the rain. I was talking with the owner and he stated, “ My wife (office manager) gave me a list of clients to contact and I got distracted and drop the ball and did not contact you.” He did not know when he would be able to come and complete the job. I told him this was the last opportunity for me to have the work completed because school would be starting and I would not have the liberty of taking off. I told him I wanted my deposit back and I would wait until next summer to have the job done. He stated “ I will have **** contact you”. **** (office manager) never called, so I called and talked with (*******) the owner again and was told he will have **** call me. Still, no phone call. I called back and asked about the refund of the deposit and he stated they are working on it and would get back with me as to when it will happen. Still, no phone call. I contacted him again and was told they are waiting to get a refund from the concrete company and **** will call me with the information. Still no phone call. I called again and left a voice mail and stated I will seek legal counsel if they do not contact me about my deposit. I have not heard anything from them. My partner who initiated the initial contact with All About Concrete & Stoneworks send them an email and ask them to contact us to resolve the issue and work out something in getting our deposit back. He gave them a deadline to contact us and still no response.
