We witnessed the workers having a physical fight. We later discovered a can of Budweiser in our crawlspace and on top of the roof. When we called about the incident, the secretary supposedly looked into this and said it was only one man drinking and they fired him. The day after they finished the roof, we experienced a storm and discovered our roof was still leaking in the same place as it was before we replaced the roof. Our awning, which did not leak before was also leaking. A board bordering the roof came off during the storm. The workers also got tar all over our new decks. They came once and put the board back on the house. They claimed to have fixed the leak by the chimney, but it still leaks. They made the awning a little better but were charged extra for it. A worker with no shirt and flip-flops came to clean off the tar and got part of it saying he was in a hurry. After paying the company, we also noticed they charged us 500 dollars over the original quoted amount for additional wood. We asked for an explanation. They sent pictures. One picture didn't look like it came from our home. It was cropped. Another picture showed four new boards. Then the last two were the same photo from different angles revealing three new boards. We did not understand why the invoice said 100 1 by 6 boards for 500 dollars. When we only saw 7 new boards. They said it was 100 feet not 100 boards, even though the invoice said "Quantity." But even if we went by feet, we only saw ******************************************* the crawl space and that they will show us. They never did but sent us 140 dollars back. We are still short 150 dollars, but they will not return calls to fix the issues or address our concerns. We noticed bubbling on the new shingles and were told, that this issue should resolve itself, given enough heat and time. The bubbles remain. We also saw an incomplete fold in the crawl space where the roof merges. It has exposed shingles with no coverings.

      Customer response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We do not accept this response, because he has not fixed the problems. The following issues still remain unresolved. A leak on the rear chimney face drips water into our upstairs room. Approximately 9 feet of missing ridge boards with shingles nailed to tar paper. In addition to these complaints, we are concerned that the roof is not in compliance because we have a 15ft section of the attic with no ridge vent. There continues to be a leak from the rear face of the chimney in moderate rainfall and the caulking you applied to the porch overhang did not correct the leak there. Our general contractor pointed out the missing ridge boards and resulting weakly attached ridge shingles. We hand delivered a letter to the contractor at his listed address, requesting these defects be remedied and outlined our courses of action if he fails to rectify the aforementioned issues.

My roof was replaced last year. At the time the roofing contractor told me that the Ridge/Cap shingles looked different but were the proper shingles for my roof. That was not true. The manufacturer changed the color from Brown to Gray, but kept the color name, "CORNERSTONE" the same. So when I purchased a "CORNERSTONE" Roof, that my wife and I contracted to be brown, I got Cornerstone Brown field shingles and the new Cornerstone gray colored ridge/cap shingles. So my roof does not look right. Nationwide Roofing left me a message over a month ago after complained about the issue saying they spoke to the manufacturer who said they will make good, but no idea how or when. I do not want this to drag on to the point the statute of limitations runs out and then I am stuck. I spoke with Nationwide since then and still have no commitment as to how and when this will be resolved.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/09/30) */ I have contacted Mr ******** and shingles manufacturer and they are going to provide me ridge cap materials and we will install. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/09/30) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) That response by the roofer was over a month ago, yet they have not provided a date, just a verbal promise. I do not feel confident in waiting until the statute of limitation expires. I am planning to file a law suit to protect my rights. I will not remind my complaint until the job is completed, because so far all I have is a promise from a company that I feel was not 100% honest with me to begin with. This company's promises, are meaningless to me. This is a reputation they have earned by the way the6 treated me from the start. Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2021/10/18) */ we have changed out ridge cap that was Not available that matched roof at time of install. That was color manufacture provided at install time but since then they have made a matching ridge cap material. Consumer Response /* (2000, 15, 2021/10/20) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Nationwide Roofing finished the job thanks to my BBB complaint. As soon as Nationwide Roofing found out of my complaint to the BBB, they stopped stalling me and brushing me off. If it wasn't for the BBB, I believe I might still be struggling with this. I do not recommend this contractor, but I highly recommend the BBB. I did have to hire a different contractor to fix a long term roof leak. After 3 or 4 attempts to fix the leak, Nationwide stopped returning calls 6 months after the new roof was installed because they were unable or unwilling to fix the leak so I had to pay a different company to fix the roof leak to mitigate further damage. I still have a messed up roof because of miss matched field shingles, that is IKO Shingle manufacturers fault, which is the shingle Nationwide uses.
