On July 25th, I took my car to Midas of Saint Petersburg to have my fuel level sensor replaced. The mechanic had trouble securing and locking the trunk back in place. This added nearly two hours to the repair. When the work was completed, I noticed that the fuel gauge read full. There was only a quarter of gas in the tank when I dropped off the vehicle. The next day I drove the vehicle over forty miles and the fuel gauge remained stuck on full. Because of the situation and a similar concern months earlier regarding a radiator replacement, I severed the business relationship with Midas, St. Petersburg. On 9/13/2022, my car leaked gas and would not start. Each time I attempted to start the vehicle, it leaked additional gas. This is due to the fuel level sensor not being fully secured. Before taking my vehicle to Midas, I had no issues. Each service from Midas resulted in a return trip to fix what was not properly done. This caused frustration. Again, this is the second major incident that I experienced with Midas. Prior to this incident, I had my radiator replaced. The mechanic failed to properly secure the radiator hose. This caused the hose to rip in half-leading to further overheating and leaking. That said, the mechanic failed to replace the oil and cool that were removed. This resulted in my engine overheating on the interstate. This is no reflection on Midas as a whole. I've had great experiences with corporate owned stones. This is a franchise that fails to deliver quality work and keeps customers returning through shoddy work. Situated near Midtown, the Saint Petersburg branch serves a high minority population. Perhaps management feels that the customers have little resources to fight back. I am seeking to have my vehicle repaired properly, if possible by an outside source. It's the companies responsibility to stand by their work.Business response

Customer is correct, we installed a part that failed. Car came in fuel gauge was not working. diagnosed there was a failed sensor. We replaced the sensor and the gauge then read full, we assumed the new part was working.
Not unheard of for a new part to fail, but unusual. Once *********** informed us of this we repaired the failed part.

I am rejecting this response because:The defective fuel sensor was not replaced. The fuel line was damaged/broken (leaking gas) as a result of faulty repairs. After two visits, Midas was able to repair the fuel line. The fuel sensor still reads full.
Sincerely,
