I bought a house in November of 2022 and used the lenders insurance (Progressive/American Strategic). In January of 2023 I requested to cancel the lenders insurance policy (Progressive/American Strategic) and switch to another provider (USAA).Progressive/American Strategic mailed me a check for $1207 and cancelled the policy, but kept taking money. Issue #1) I paid for TWO homeowners insurance policies for 11/22-11/23. Progressive/American Strategic has refused to refund the money they received for that year. Issue #2)On 6/6/2024, I learned that my mortagage company mistakenly mailed Progressive/American Strategic an escrow check back in 11/2023 for $3860.81. Check number ******* which was posted 11/7/2023. I have not had a policy with Progressive/American Strategic for a couple years now. I am requesting a refund of the check number ******* since I have had USAA homeowners insurance since coverage since 11/2022. At this time, the Progressive/American Strategic policy was LONG cancelled. Progressive/American Strategic should have immediately refundded the check for $3860 as there is NO policy in effect. I do not understand why they chose to keep the money knowing there is no policy.I am requesting a refund for both the check they received in error in 11/2023 (no policy in effect) ($3860.81) and a refund for the year that they charged me for insurance after I cancelled the policy ***************). Please let me know what you need from me. I can provide mortgage statements showing that progressive was paid, emails from progressive indicating that the policy was cancelled in 11/2023 when I realized that I was paying for two homeowners insurance policies, and emails with my local lender who fought me when I tried to cancel the policy. I can also provide a bank statement showing that I cashed the $1207 refund check from Progressive. I can also provide evidence that I have had insurance with USAA since 2022.
