Buyer beware ~~ We were doing quite a bit of business with them including a gold watch repair, 5 custom pendants made, selling some of my deceased ************* jewelry and purchasing a diamond ring. When we went back to pick up the pendants, watch, my ************** more gold to sell, we were totally unprepared for the problems we experienced. The chains were not included with the pendants which they were charging me over $700 for and I had supplied the gem stones. They had sold my ring that was on hold even though I had left over $600 in gold and offered a deposit on it. They had called us to let us know the pendants and watch were ready but didn't bother to check to see if we still wanted the ring before they just sold it when it was on hold. Lastly, we brought in a lot more gold jewelry to sell and luckily I was so upset that my ring was gone and they tried to switch me to another one that didn't even fit, I took my gold and went to another dealer. To my shock I was given thousands of dollars more for the gold than what they had offered me. I feel they are taking advantage of trusting seniors and we know we got less than we could have for the gold we gave them the 1st time. We never even got an itemized list of what our pendants were costing each ~ just a bulk $700+. A ****** learned the hard and expense way.

    Boggs Jewelry, Inc. Response

We are sorry *************************** had a bad experience with us. As most reviews show, we are able to make most customers happy, but we understand there will be times when someone may not be satisfied.

Regarding the ring, she dropped off an item for repair, and while she was here she found a ring and asked us to hold it. At that time there was a verbal agreement to hold it. There was nothing in writing, nor deposit to hold the ring. Our expectation was that without a deposit we would hold the ring for a week in good faith. When we called to tell her the ring repair was ready a week later, she indicated she was on vacation and in that conversation there was no mention of the ring she asked us to hold, so it was returned to inventory. When another client found interest in the ring the sales clerk could find nothing in writing to hold the ring and sold it to the other client. When ***** returned to pick up her repair, she wanted to pay for the new ring with a gold exchange - but the ring had been sold, so we offered to sell her a similar ring (same type, but smaller finger size) - and resize it for her, but she opted out of that offer.

Regarding gold: Because second-hand metals must be held by the dealer for 30 days, we always pay the market price based on carat and weight less 15% - but gold prices fluctuate - sometimes dramatically from week-to-week. It's likely that by the time she sold it to another dealer the market price for gold was much higher.

Boggs is adding insult to injury by continuing to lie about the situation. #1. I asked to make a deposit on the ring but was told by our salesperson, *****, it wasn't necessary since they had over $600 of my Mom's old gold jewelry which I was selling to them , a gold watch that was being repaired and 5 ************** Topaz gemstones that were being made into pendants.for gifts. I was told the ring would be put in the safe with the rest of my things until I came back when the pendants were completed. #2 They called me and said the pendants were ready (not a ring as stated in their comments) and yes, I was out of town but said I would be in as soon as I returned which I did. I had no reason to mention the ring since it was supposedly in a safe waiting with my other things. #3 When I came in to complete our business transactions with them, I asked to see my ring and was told they were looking for it. I had to ask multiple times for the ring before they finally told me that they couldn't find it. They then tried to switch me to another ring. (see # 5). #4 I brought in another large quantity of gold jewelry that was left to me when my Mom passed and was told it was worth around $3200 (nothing was given to me in writing ) at current value. They didn't give me an itemized list of the pieces when I sold them the 1st batch either and I don't even know the weight of the gold in that group of jewelry. After what has transpired, I'm pretty sure I didn't get a fair price for those pieces either. #5 The ring that was "put in the safe for me" was a perfect fit and that is why I was excited about buying it since it is hard for me to find rings that are size 9. I didn't want a ring that had to be sized and it wasn't even the same setting or stone. #6 When I was upset that the ring I was expected to buy that day was sold without even a courtesy call to see if I still wanted it, I decided I didn't want to do any further business with them. I paid for the repair to my gold watch and the pendants that were made with my gemstones. I had expected that chains would be included for the price but It wasn't. #7 We left their business (after returning in less than 15 minutes to get a refund on the chains we had to order) and went directly to the *** **** **** to sell the gold jewelry that Boggs had offered around $3200 for. The Gold Spot gave me an itemized listing of all the pieces I gave them and were told the market value was $7200. We agreed to a $500 commission and left The Gold Spot with a check for $6700 less than 2 hours after leaving Boggs. There is no way the market price could have gone from $3200 that Boggs offered us to $7200 for the same gold within 2 hours !! We feel they are not reputable and I'm concerned about other seniors bringing in their valuables to them.
