July *****, 2023 $3048 rental cost The property was not as published on VRBO. The air conditioning did not work. I made 3 calls to the property manager regarding temperature. On 2 occasions he sent an HVAC *** resulting in no change. We were expected to stay in the home while the workers were there, which should not be the responsibility of the renter. The technicians informed us that the inside unit was incapable of keeping up with the heat and needed to be replaced. The temperature in the home was 85 degrees during the day and 75 at night. We couldn't open the blinds to enjoy the view, cook dinner or do laundry. We had to order food instead of cooking. We all had to sleep on the couches because there were only 2 box fans. I specifically asked FBR to send more fans. They did not.At home, I contacted ***************** again regarding this situation. I requested a partial refund, as we were unable to use the house for its intended purpose. His reply was that the current heat wave caused the home temp. The ******* informed him of the repairs needed (i.e. new inside unit, insulation in attic). When told the home next door was had AC, he replied that his office was also cool. I requested a partial refund for the inconvenience and the additional cost of dining out for which we had not budgeted. He said he would speak with the property owners, but didn't respond.When able, we posted an accurate review of the home. ****** replied to the review with the attached response. His response was misleading and accusatory, despite the fact that he had given us a 5 star review as renters. He said we offer[ed] to give the home a more favorable review for a refund. He also implied that we damaged the property or neglected to report previous damages. This did not happen. There were several issues with the home we did not report, because he informed us that the owners had just spent 2 weeks there. The entire home was substandard. In fact, the nice porch furniture shown in VRBO images of this home was replaced with cheap plastic rocking chairs. This was unfortunate since we had to spend most of our home time on the porch since the house was entirely too hot during the day.I would like the property to be accurately represented on all rental sites and the owners reply to be removed from our review on VRBO.
