On 12.9.21, OTC Towing illegally towed my vehicle from a commercial private property parking lot, broke the law and solicited a manager of the property to sign an authorization release. When I contacted them the gentleman lied and said they had a contract with the private property, which they did not! I called law enforcement to report my car stolen by OTC for illegally towing the car. Law enforcement came to the location and investigated the illegal tow. Alex tried to leave, but was detained until the Sergeant came to read him the Fla. Stat. § 715.07, which says, "Anyone towing a vehicle in Florida without the consent of the owner must strictly comply with the requirements of Fla. Stat. § 715.07. This law only applies to non-consensual towing from private property, not to towing requested by the police. Id. at (3). With that said, the statute imposes several requirements on tow company operators. These requirements are the minimum standards in Florida and the law does not preclude enactment of additional regulations by any municipality or county. Fla. Stat. § 715.07(2)(b). While the officers waited for the Sergeant to arrive, Alex picked up another car from the apartment complex lot and put it on the back of the tow truck while the police told him to wait while they investigated the illegal tow. When the Sergeant arrived, he read him the statue and told him he towed my car illegally and it doesn't look good that he solicited a signature from the manager of the private commercial property and pressured her to sign an unauthorized release form. The Sergeant then told Alex he had to return my car back to me. Extremely disappointed that the guys at OTC towing company would go to great lengths just to break the law for a few dollars. Thankful law enforcement was able to enforce the law so I could get my vehicle back!

My vehicle was towed from approximately************************ for no reason. I have multiple pictures to prove there were no signs or markings on pavement of a tow zone. I even have a police officer who said he doesn't understand why I was towed. When I asked Chris, the tow truck driver, why I was towed he said because there are signs everywhere, which is an absolute lie. You can even view the entire area on google maps and clearly see there are no signs. When I picked the vehicle up he stated they only accept cash. The total due to get my vehicle back was $155, I only had $160. He said "sorry we only don't have change". So he towed my vehicle for no reason AND got a $5.00 tip! I'm absolutely disgusted and wonder how many other people get wrongfully towed everyday by this company. If there is nothing that can be done and this is perfectly legal why doesn't everyone go buy a piece of property and a tow truck and go into business towing random vehicles to make a buck?
