My husband and I purchased a home in the Sandestin community on April 28, 2023. The day after closing our Realtor highly suggested using Mr. Julio "Ray" Badillo the sole owner of Colorscapes Home Services, LLC to move internal walls, modify the kitchen, change the aluminum wiring to copper if needed, paint the walls and do many other things. We were informed by him and the Realtor that he was licensed. We signed a contract with Badillo and paid him a $15,000.00 deposit. We vacated the property, left our possessions relying on his promises and assurances that he would safeguard all. He later informed us that the aluminum wiring showed signs of fire in the kitchen. We stressed again that we only wanted a licensed person/electrician to touch the electrical. We mailed him another $30,000.00 to pay the electrician (he did not). Badillo reached out continuously asking where we were, wanting to know our whereabouts. Unknown to us, people were spending the night in our home, damaging our home and belongings and STEALING! As Badillo constantly reassured us that things were looking wonderful, an adjacent neighbor was reaching out to the HOA with complaints. On August 13, 2023 I entered the home after Badillo stated that the home was ready for a "red ribbon cutting ceremony." He was nowhere to be found. It was horror! Leaks coming from the second floor, filth, trash, lamps heaped in piles, broken mirrors and artwork, stains and moisture on furniture, equipment on furniture, maggots in the refrigerator and dishwasher, tons of stolen possessions, trash, drywall, and paint strewn everywhere. The furniture was bent and twisted and faded. Our home looked like a crack house. We have paid over $50,000.00 in repairs/replacements with more repairs needed in the future. We had no idea as non-Floridians how easy it is to check on the license status of a contractor on the DBPR website. Many consumers who used him say Badillo is licensed. He is not licensed. He is faking it.
