On 3/3/23 I signed a contract with *********************, owner of Mod-Zen Construction LLC, and paid them a $5000.00 downpayment for work to be completed on my property. The work was to begin within ***** weeks from 3/8/23. That would put the work to begin by 8/24/23-9/21/23. However, no work has been started to date. I have tried multiple times to communicate with him to proceed with my repairs but that has proven to be ineffective. I want my money back. I am not the only resident in my neighborhood in this situation with his company. He has multiple addresses and mailboxes. To say communication is difficult is an understatement.

      Business response

*****, We apologize for the communication issues, Can we please still have the opportunity to repair and fix your house properly? Is that still an option? We can get you started in the next few weeks, and we would be grateful for the opportunity to complete the contract as stated.

If not, we will send you a refund slip, and Hold Harmless and prepare your refund as requested. Please let us know.

A year after signed agreement and $7500 deposit, still no work done as of 4/12/2024. No replies to my emails, no one answers the phone (voicemail is full), did not get the engineered plans correct for my home (I am a draftsman working for engineer company, I know how it is done!), they are no longer at the address on the agreement. The work they promised was to replace a carport and porch, plus metal roof over both and laundry shed of my mobile home, damaged and/or destroyed by hurricane ***.

We were promised a carport from Mod-Zen on 12/16/2022 and gave them a deposit of $5665 for the work. At the time we signed they said that it would be 15 weeks out. Needless to say that never happened. We have to call and were promised a refund. They didn't keep the agreement and finally my *********** contacted them to say we canceled this carport and wanted the refund of monies. Never happened. Finally we got the carport from SafeBay Roofing. Mod-Zen cost for total would have been $17,000, with an additional gutter for $2200. Safebay Roofing cost was $24,025.00 upon completion. We withheld $2000 until we return in November of this year..There are so many people in **************************************** that have been scammed from this company. They swooped in after Hurricane *** and promised the sun to all of us however that was a far cry from what really happened to most of us.

Contract signed in February of 2023 for Hurricane *** repairs. Paid 1/2 of entire amount on contract signing date of 2/17/2023. In September 2023, paid additional money for start of job. The only work they've done to present is delivering windows and digging holes for carport supports. Filled holes in with concrete.

Mod-Zen construction did, on 3/14/2023 sign a contract through their representative, Ron C., for the construction and completion of a new screen room per the attached contract with completion scheduled.. for Nov. 14th, 2023. The deadlines have not met, no construction has been performed, no construction drawings have been shown, no evidence of materials ordered or purchased has been presented, repeated phone calls have not been answered, few were with no satisfaction, request for refund of the $5,000.00 deposit have been ignored and, as a result we cancelled the contract on 11/22/23. I did sign an application for a permit on 11/22, however they failed to meet all deadlines and could not complete the project in any reasonable timeframe so we cancelled the contract. We have documentation showing calls and request for refund including a certified letter which was refused and returned. We therefore request the return of the $5,000 deposit.

ON 10/26/23, I signed a contract to purchase 3 new windows. The contract states completion date between 8 and 12 weeks. I gave them a down payment of $1183 on a total cost of $2366. Despite numerous attempts by email and telephone voice messages ( they don't answer the phone), I've received excuses, promises and lies about when the windows would be installed. Now, I get no response from the contractor, *****************************.
