On June 15th I went to Marathon gas station on **** Ringling Blvd in ******** to purchase $20 gas and ice. The purchase cost a total of $23.20, so I used my debit card. I 1st attended the newly purchased ice by placing the ice over food items in my cooler. When I finished I proceeded to go pump the $20 in gas but the pump indicated processing but after 5-8 minutes waiting I went back into the gas station to find out why the pump wasnt turning on. The clerk said the pump must of timed out and I had to use my debit card again so I did because I trusted this business at the time. The clerk charged my card for only the $20 for gas. I pumped the gas and left . The next day while I was checking my debit card balance I noticed (both the $23.20 and $20) transactions were deducted.I returned to the gas station to let them know they double charged me the $20 gas. The brother of the owner was working and said I had to of pumped both the $20 charges because the pump doesnt expire. He said if I could show proof with the bank statement that both were charged, his brother would reimburse the $20 I card my debit card and they emailed me my account that shows both charges were deducted. The following day (Saturday June 17th, 2023) I retired to the gas station with the bank statement to prove I was charged both. The owner was working, and besides arguing the 1st charge wouldnt of gone through because the transaction was terminated because time expired to use the pump. 1 brother says the pumps dont expire and the 2nd brother says they do. I called my debit card and explain the whole situation, and I was told (regardless if the pump time expired or not), because the 1st transaction had ice purchased on the same transaction, there could not be a terminated transaction. I showed the owner PROOF I was charged for both, but he still refuses to return the $20 transaction charge but no gas was received from that charge. This business stoled

*irst, let me explain how prepayment of gas works in my store (same as most of the gas stations). If someone prepaid gas inside with a credit/debit card with cashier for the outside pump it will hold the prepaid amount, but it only charges whatever amount ( less than prepaid amount) the customer pumped. But sometimes it takes ***** hours to settle the transaction, in the meantime it shows in the bank transaction as pending. *or example, if a customer prepays $20 gas but only pumps $15, the bank will show as $20 pending but it will eventually settle for $15. If the customer does not pump at all it will settle for $0. There is no way someone can get charged for gas without pumping, because it only settles the transaction after the customer finishes pumping.
Now let me explain what happened between the customer and me. As soon as he walked in the store ( Saturday, June 17, 2023) he called me a thief in front of other customers with a very raised and angry voice and  wanted $20 back. I ask him to calm down and explain to me what happened. I ask him to show me the 2 settled transactions. He showed me his phone so quickly that I was not able to see if the transactions were settled or not. Same time when  all those things are happening he is screaming, using racial slur, cursing me and also telling me to go back to some other country (******** told him it is very unlikely to get charged twice for the same gas transaction. Still I offered to call the police to settle the matter. I also told him he can call his credit/debit card to dispute the transaction.
I have been running this gas station since 2009. I am well liked in the neighborhood. As a law abiding US citizen, I get very much offended by his racial slur, using the * word, to send me to some other country in front of my other regular customers.
Another possibility, a customer can get charged twice if he/she pumps the gas twice.
Please contact me if you need anything.
      Thanks
