03/30 I walked into a SMH Urgent Care Venice, I paid my copayment at registration I complained of severe pain to the back of my head at the base of my skull, I awoke with blurry vision that had subsided almost perfectly was told me she could not run the required tests to confirm I didn't have a blain bleed, tumor or stroke, She suggested I go to SMH ER Venice, drove myself. I was then instructed to go to the front desk, where I asked the girl if she needed my insurance card or identification, she said no I received an ID bracelet. To the best of my knowledge, I signed no papers consenting to treatment. I was triaged and assigned to a hallway bed. Dr. Holland came asked me my symptoms did the push pull test along with hand eye coordination and made me walk to check my balance. Never once did Dr. Holland touch or look at the back of my head. I could have had a bruise or tick bite etc. In my opinion he prematurely sent me for a CT scan of my head ,and I believe another dose of pain meds. CT reflected I had a healthy brain Dr. Holland had no diagnosis and was to give me a referral to an Neuro for follow up and a script for my pain med (Oxy) I had mentioned that I had been treated for a clogged ear, he said it was healthy. At discharge Dr gave me a script for an ENT not a Neuro and a script for oxy for an undiagnosed condition. The next day I received a call from registration dept. saying they didn't have time to register me, apologized and that I was now liable for a $675 co payment. I spoke with multiple depts and finally Ms Rousch President of SMH Venice, who said I was registered when I went to their Urgent Care facility, so do I get a credit for paying my co payment at UC? I left with Narcotics, no diagnosis, incorrect referral, bill and excuses. In fact I had Occipital Neuralgia a simple touch to the back of my head could had reproduced symptoms and not have be subjected to costly CT exam. I will be contacting insurance co. This is a shortened version.
