My home had storm damage from Hurricane Zeta and then a year later from Hurricane ***. After believing I did not receive enough insurance funds from the insurance **mpany, I hired an independent adjuster who was referred to me by a **ntractor who I **ntacted to give me a quote on my house repairs. I met with the adjuster and he seemed very **nfident that he **uld help me get the funds needed to repair my house. I hired him and paid him $3000. He did **me to my house, took measurements, pictures, video of the damage and made a report, which he did send all of that to me. His **mpany is based in **, but he has a license in ** and LA. In the meantime, he helped me find a **ntractor who started doing some demo work on my house. He came to town a **uple of times to **me check on the work being done. There was a deadline date of when you had to file something with the ins **mpanies. If you didnt file by this date, it was too late. I have no proof that he ever **ntacted or filed anything with the ins ** prior to this date. Now its too late to get any more additional funds from them to fix my house. I did **ntact him about this, but he never actually answered my questions regarding nothing being filed by the deadline date. After a while, I sent him an email requesting a partial refund since it was going on a year and with no resolution. But I never received a response. I then sent a certified letter through the mail with the same request and I still didnt get a response. I eventually called him and was able to speak to him by phone regarding my request. Nothing was resolved by the phone call and he made it clear that he has no intentions on refunding me any of the money I paid him, even though he didnt do what he said he was going to do. He did do some work so I wasnt requesting the entire $3000. I did request $2500, but I would even settle for just $2000 since he did **me out and created the report.

I was hired by the insured to help with her Zeta and *** claims. The home owner agreed and signed a contract for my services. She did make an payment as agreed for the services that was performed per the attached contract. As you can see on the contract I was only paid for the services rendered. No additional payments were made to me after the initial payment.

Costs include but not limited to: my initial inspection, claims guidance, written damage report for her records, blueprint of home, equipment costs such as docusketch, telephone calls, emails, travel and lodging. I visited her home at least 3 times from ******* and have photo proof plus witnesses. I am very confident in my abilities. Unfortunately, as per my conversations with LIGA's ***** they would not honor anymore Appraisal demands after the prescription date. I do recall during conversations with the home owner about hiring an attorney for additional help with her *** claim. That was always an option for her. I can only do my job, give advise, referrals and / or claims guidance. I can not force any one to make decisions for their homes.

Her home was damaged by multiple hurricanes and the home owner didn't complete the repairs from the first claim that was made after Zeta. 12 months prior to Hurricane ***. I advised that certain demo and repairs be made per the ************** adjusters report should be completed before we file for a supplement claim. I did give the home owner referrals for licensed individuals to complete work. That wasn't done in a timely manner and not apart of my job description to many repair / demo jobs.

After the prescription date, I continued to help the home owner by sending state agency program information that could possibly help and continued working with the contractor searching for a resolution. We continued to give guidance as best as we could but the final decision making lies with the home owner. It's an unfortunate situation but I completed the tasks within the contract.
