In the 6 months that Sand Dollar Pools was contracted to maintain my pool, they did $14,000 worth of damage to the fiberglass coating by not maintaining the water chemistry. The fiberglass pool was installed in May of 2023 and SDP began doing weekly service 06/01/23 for $125/month. In November, I began biweekly service for $250. The next time that I returned to the property on Wed 11/29 the pool was very dirty and the blue coating on the fiberglass around the waterline, joints, and stair areas was bleached white. The technician returned Fri but only to check the pH and chlorine levels and he refused to clean the filthy pool. I pushed him to additionally check the calcium and told me it was 640 ppm and that was fine (manufacturer recommendation is 350 ppm). At that point I took samples of the water to get them tested myself at two different locations, Pinch-A- ***** and The *********************. The test results were consistent with each other and showed low calcium harness (200 and 150 ppm), alkalinity (10 and 50 ppm), and stabilizer (0 ppm and 0 ppm). Both stores recommended checking the salt cell to see if they were using it to compensate for the lack of stabilizer. The salt cell was turned up almost all the way so chlorine was being continuously produced but also continuously reacting in the absence of stabilizer to protect it, which caused the bleaching. I terminated SDP services on 12/03/23 and have continued to reach out to the owner to come to resolution on the damage that was done to my 6 month old pool by not maintaining the water chemistry but he will not respond to my phone calls, texts, or emails. I have since gotten an estimate for recoating the fiberglass, which will cost $14,000. I would like Sand Dollar to file an insurance claim and take responsibility for repairing the damage done to my pool and additionally to refund me the money I paid for the service they did not provide ($125 in June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct, and $250 in Nov).
