My wife and I purchased a house. *********************** from Re/Max Alliance was our realtor. During the inspection of the house the septic ***** field was found to be inadequate. The seller agreed to replace it. During the final walk through of the property the day before closing I noticed pipes sticking up from the area the ***** field was installed. I asked my realtor, ***********************, about this. She made a phone call and assured me everything was good, these were just markers. After closing on the house and moving in I discovered the pipes were irrigation plumbing that had been broken by the septic contractor. I contacted the contractor who informed me the previous owners were aware the irrigation system was damaged and had signed documents acknowledging the damage and the understanding that they (the previous owners), not the contractor were responsible to repair them. My agent contacted the seller's agent and was informed they were not going to do anything to remedy the situation since the transaction had closed. We have gone back and forth with ReMax, enclosed is the latest email from *********************, *****'s sister and business partner.

      Business response

      01/17/2024

It wasn't until the phone call and voicemail that I received from BBB today, January 17, **** that I became aware of this issue.  So I apologize for the delayed response.

In review of the complaint and the attachment,  our agents *********************** & ********************* did respond to ********************** complaint.  We were not the company that represented the Seller in the sale, and the issue stems from the Seller knowing about damage done to the irrigation system by a contractor. They were supposed to accept responsibility for repairing it, but they failed to do so. Our agent reached out to the Sellers agent, but they said the Seller would not do anything about it.  Our agent even offered to help with some of the costs to repair it, even though they did not cause the issues, and it was not their responsibility to pay for the repair.  ********************* complaint is really with the real estate company that represented the Seller in the sale, not us.

But, I will have our Manager for the ***** area follow up with our agents to see if anything else can be done to resolve this issue.
