We contracted Craig **** to put a new roof on our house that was under construction. We paid him one third of the money upfront to order materials and then a second payment to bring the total paid to 50% of the contract amount. This was about $17,000. We were told by **** to let him know when we were ready for the roof to go on and he would dry it in within a day or two. We told him we were ready for the dry in on January 26th. He finally came March 7th and did the initial dry in. From day one we had water intrusion into the house in multiple locations. I consistently asked him to resolve this over the following months and he would every other week or so have a guy show up for about an hour to put one piece of drip edge in or one piece of flashing despite telling him repeatedly that we needed all of the drip edge properly installed and flashing properly installed to prevent water intrusion. It is now close to the end of June and we have been having water intrusion into multiple locations of our house damaging drywall and likely causing mold and rot within the walls. Water has also gone behind the improperly installed drip edge and behind the stucco damaging most of the stucco on our house. I gave him multiple opportunities over months to resolve the issue and to at least give us a date for putting the metal roofing on and he did neither. Craig never even personally came to the job site to inspect the work his employee did despite me asking several times. Ultimately we decided to fire him and are now looking for a new roofer in the middle of hurricane season. Besides not finishing the drip edge, most of the underlayment, flashing, and drip edge that was installed was done improperly and will need to be removed by the next roofer. Craig offered no resolutions, delivered no metal product to the site and offered no refund. He also put underlayment over rotted plywood sheathing from the existing roof and never said anything about it.
