I reached out to this company to provide an estimate for a roof for my elderly mother in poor health. I was helping her. They sent an estimate of $8500. My mother agreed and the install of roof was done. They have VERY bad communiaction, I had to call several times. They also left nails all over my mom's yard that my mom stepped in and was bleeding from her foot. She has ******** and this can be very dangerous. After they were done, they demanded an additional $1100. My mother is on social security and chose them because of the lower price, which they added a ton to. They also took down large sections of gutters and left them laying in her yard. When I called and told them to come and put them back up the office secreatry stated that they told my brother the gutters were in too poor shape to put back up. This is an outright LIE, my brother spoke to their employee doing the install and he stated no one told him to put them back up. It is absolutely disgusting that they want to do half the job, leave large pieces of gutter laying in a 72 year old womn's yard, and just leave them there. They do not have the option of deciding what is worth putting back and what is not. This has been a terrible experience. We are not paying $1100 extra without photographic evidence what it is they have to charge extra for and shame on them for taking care of sick eldery clients on social security. What is she supposed to do with a bunch of gutter laying in the middleof her yard? FYI - I have called their office twice as well as sent emails. They do not return phone calls or emails. When I asked the secretary if they actually read their emails, she was unable to tell me yes or no. I want them to finish the job by putting the gutters back where they found them and adjust the bill to the $8500 she was quoted unless they have true photographic or video evidence of any additional work that they had the permission to charge her for.

      Business response

      05/25/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/13) */ Weiler Roofing was contracted to replace the roof with new shingles and completed the work on Friday 5/6/2022. During the roof removal, we uncovered damaged wood decking and fascia that needed to be replaced before the new roof can be installed. Our contract states that wood repairs are not part of the quoted price and will be charged at the rates listed on the contract. Due to the extent of damaged wood fascia, the gutters also had to be taken down. Our roofing crew is not experienced with hanging gutters to ensure proper drainage, which is why we note this as an exclusion in our contract. The customer's son called about the gutters and we explained why we did not rehang the gutters after the work was completed. We were then contacted by the customer's daughter about the wood repair costs and gutters on Monday 5/9. We said that we would review the invoice. The customer's daughter called again on Tuesday 5/10 and was very disrespectful to our staff, cussing and hanging up on our receptionist. I tried to reach out to the customer's daughter to try to diffuse the situation and she again hung up, not allowing us to come to any kind of agreement. We reached out to the customer on Wednesday 5/11/22 and spoke with her son to let him know that we were coming to rehang the gutters and do another magnet sweep. All work has been completed and the customer and her son were very happy with our work. Her son also mentioned that he had recorded the entire roof replacement and appreciated how well our crew worked. Consumer Response /* (2000, 7, 2022/05/20) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) LOL half of it is a lie, as no one cussed and their receptionost is very rude. I have text messages etc, I have always been professional. However, since they did come back and take care of gutters and try to pick up the rusty nails they left everywhere they have done what I asked...Their quoting practices are borderline FRAUD, as I spoke to many roofers and 99% of the time when replacing a roof you must repalce some wood. Therefore quoting a replacement without adding ANY wood costs is extremely dishonest. The older people on budgets will pick the lowest estimate, not knowing both estimates were equal because this company will charge you after. I see moving companies do this all the time- and not give you your stuff until you pay extra, holding you hostage. Same thing here, they open a notice of commencement, and to close it, the poor elderly client must pay the extra thousand they cannot afford because they are also held hostage. These business should be regulated on their desceptive quotes.
