I brought my car in for a brake job, dropped my car off at 8am and requested brake pads. The original quote was roughly around $275.00, 9 hours later i received a phone call that my car was ready and went to pick it up and the cost was $911. I never received a phone call to inform of the drastic change in cost or extra parts that he was putting on and adding for. He also stated that he rotated my tires to put the best tires on the front, yet he did so with out balancing the tires and now my tires are of balance and make noise. He also replaced the rotors on the wheels without consent. I was forced to pay the amount to receive my car back which i need as I use my vehicle for work. I believe that if he was going to do work on the vehicle above the cost of original estimate he should have verified and got the ok to do so, as I could have picked my car back up and took it elsewhere for a cheaper cost. This business should be looked into because he is failing to do what is required when an estimate far exceeds the cost of the estimate.

My dealings were mainly with *************************** mother, who came into my shop and asked me when I would have time to do a full brake job all the way around on her daughters car.  I told her my next  available appointment and a few days later **** and her mother dropped the car off and gave me a phone number to call when the vehicle was ready.  I had no conversation with **** or her mother about only replacing brake pads and quoting $275.00.  I'm wonder if she got a quote from someone else for $275 and got it confused with me.

****'s mother stopped by shop around noon that day and wanted to know when the car would be ready.  I explained to her that I was waiting on the new rotors (once again no talk about the cost and she didn't question why I ordered new rotors and not just putting brake pads on the car).

1.) I would never only replace brake pads on any car I service because that's not the correct way of doing a brake job.  If you only replace the brake pads without resurfacing or replacing the rotors the brakes will squeal.

2.) I rotated the front tires to the back, and the back tires to the front as a courtesy since I had the wheels off for the brake job. I also sold her one used tire for $30 that I put on the back of the car that I did balance the one tire.

3.) The price I charged her for the work that needed to be done on her car was fair.  If she knew someone who could do the work cheaper I would have encouraged her to take her car else where.  She didn't question the amount I charged her when she picked up the vehicle or  I would have been happy to discuss it with her.  I believe the problem is the fact that I was communicating mostly with her mother and not *********

I apologize for any misunderstanding.  ****'s mother made it clear she needed brakes all the way a round which she definitely did.  Her mother did not ask for a quote, she just made it clear **** needed brakes, not brake pads.

There is no solution to this problem. I never quoted $275.00 and I never indicated I was just going to do brake pads.  If she had any issues she should have spoke to me directly.  It makes no sense that she reported me to the BBB without trying to speak with me and resolve any issue.  After contacting the BBB and trying to ruin my business by saying I need to be investigated she needs to find herself a new mechanic.  I do not appreciate anyone trying to ruin my reputation after 36 years in business with a very clean record and reputation.

      Sincerely,

      *********************** DeOliveira
