On January 4 of 2023 I terminated my membership with this gym . I have called again and again to be taken out of collections because they refuse to fully terminate the membership and stop billing me . I have paid every necessary fee on January 4 both from the collector and to the gym based on their policy and they still have not terminated my membership despite paying.Initial Complaint

Acquired a gym membership when moving to the Daytona area then a month later moved again to Sanford. Was told I had to pay $100 on top of my monthly fee to cancel something as simple and nonessential as a gym membership. Tried to reach out to their billing department but it took weeks for them to get back to me which resulted in more gym fees being taken out of my account putting me in the negative, as well as their annual $50 yearly fee. In their contract it states if you move more than X miles away from the location the $100 fee doesn't have to be paid. I provided them with my address but no confirmation or reply was given to confirm. They seem to not want to answer their emails or calls. I now have collections calling me and sending me letters for almost $300. A company especially a gym should not have start up/cancellation fees, period, let alone a ridiculous amount. This is one of the biggest scams/jokes to come into the health industry and people should be ashamed of themselves. Capitalism at its finest.Business response

When you emailed us about your relocation, we provided you with the acceptable documents and instructions for submitting proof of move for the free cancellation. You did not want to provide that, so the account was not cancelled. Attached is where you declined to provide proof. I have also listed acceptable proof of move. Please note that the proof of move must be one of the documents listed, show your name, a date after joining the gym, and be more than 25 miles from the club.Initial Complaint

I signed on for this gym with $10 start up and the first month to be free. I read my checking account information off the the front desk girl who transposed my bank account numbers. I started getting harassing phone calls that my account was past due because they tried to collect a full month payment, which they said they were not charging, plus the $10. They locked my membership, so i was never able to attend the gym. I tried to get the problem taken care of but they were rude and said my first month was not free and refused to charge only the $10 which I agreed to. I requested that they cancel my membership. They kept tacking on late fees and harassing me. I even relayed to them that I had health issues which caused me extreme anxiety with the situation, that I would never feel comfortable going there after all of the drama. They contacted me on Facebook after I left a negative review and said they would remove me from collections and never did. They put over $600 in collections on my credit report for this when the whole thing originated from their error and subsequent awful customer service and I never got to even use the facilities that they have billed me for.Business response
