I had Hardwick Fences come out to install a PVC style fence around my house. From the start we had issues with the teams that came out to install the fence. We just had fresh sod installed and we didn't want piles of dirt placed on the fresh grass. Both teams ignored our requests and continued to pile dirt on the grass. The piles of dirt killed the grass and we had to order new sod to be installed. It took Hardwick Fence 2 months to come out to finish what we agreed to. They finally came out to finish the gate issues and the sod issue came up. Owner blew up on me and refused to discount the damage he did to my yard and threatened to place a lien on my house. I have no issues paying for the work, but I definitely want money off for the damage to my yard. $500 would cover the cost of the sod and installation.Business response

Summary; In response to the BBB complaint from Mr. ********, he was credited $250.00 after installation when he brought an issue to our Superintendent, ****** *****. ****** visited Mr. ******** and they came to this agreement and Mr. ******** made final payment and signed the certificate of completion.
I spoke with our superintendent regarding the installation; Mr. ******** had requested changes to the installation after contracted. It had to do with the corner placement of the panels. We explained that it would be additional materials and labor due to the additional footage. There was no decision to move forward with those changes. There was also a complaint of the dirt that we remove from the holes to place posts. We assured the homeowners that we rake down the dirt after installation is complete. Mr. ******** was also unhappy with the gap under his gate. We built and installed a racked gate; their contract included a standard gate. ****** decided to give the racked gate at no additional cost to ensure the client had no more frustration and the gap issue would be fixed. It took 2 additional trips and twice the labor. Mr. ******** was informed that the racked gate we provided was going to be no additional charge to him. As you see attached, he signed the certificate of completion when we were finished with his installation confirming he was pleased with the completed job.
Mr. ******** called our office after he received the final invoice (due on completion per contract) and refused final payment until someone came to look at his grass. We sent ****** to speak with him regarding his concerns. Mr. ******** was claiming that we killed his grass. Upon arrival onsite ****** saw no dead grass. ****** did the next right thing; the homeowner was very argumentative, and he had a threatening demeaner. ****** offered the $250.00 credit along with the racked gate he received at no additional cost ($475.00 plus the labor, 2 trips for fabrication and install). Mr. ******** accepted and then made his final payment.
We feel that we have gone above and beyond what any fence company would do to achieve their desired result.
