I worked with Tibbets lumber to pick out and purchase a new sliding door for my home that I am renovating. I selected a door and took the specs to my contractor to confirm everything would work. My contractor approved the door I picked out and then ordered it. I paid my contractor for the door directly. Some time later I was forced to fire my contractor and replace him due to multiple issues. I contacted Tibbets and let them know that I had terminated my contractor and I would need them to send the door to me. They refused and stated the contractor would have to release the door to me. My attorney contacted the contractor and they did not respond. Tibbets refused to release the door to me despite me providing paid invoices showing that I had paid the contractor for the door. When the door arrived it was delivered to my house. The delivery address on the order from the very beginning was my home. When the contractor discovered the doors were delivered to my home he contacted Tibbets lumber and convinced them to come and take them from my driveway. So Tibbets then trespassed on my neighbors property and drove a truck through his yard to then steal the windows from my property without permission. When I called he stated they had delivered them to the contractor's warehouse. I contacted the police and filed a report. Even the officer agreed that Tibbet's was responsible for the theft of my doors, but said he couldn't go arrest anyone. He recommended a BBB Complaint so here I am.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/20) */ The product in question (doors) were sold by Tibbetts Lumber directly to Mr. ****'s contractor *********** *********** ***** At no time was the intent to sell directly to Mr. **** as that would have violated our duty to our customer (********** ***********). Tibbetts Lumber has billed ********** *********** for the doors that they ordered for this job. At this point Tibbetts Lumber has upheld their obligation to its customer (**********s ***********) and feels they should not be obligated to mediate the differences between Mr. **** and ********** ***********. The claim that the items were stolen from Mr. **** is misleading as they were delivered (initially) to the incorrect address. Tibbetts Lumber was directed by ********** *********** to deliver directly to their (********** ***********) warehouse. Tibbetts Lumber no longer has possession of the product and feels that they followed the proper chain of custody based solely on who purchased AND paid for the doors (********** ***********). Tibbetts Lumber was contacted by the Pinellas County Sheriffs department and explained the chain of possession to a point where they (Pinellas County Sheriff) felt that this was a civil matter between Mr. **** and HIS contractor ********** ***********. The only contractual agreement Tibbetts Lumber entered into regarding the sale of the above doors was with ********** *********** and at this point they (Tibbetts Lumber) have honored that commitment based on the delivery to their (********** ***********) warehouse. Mr. **** is aware that Tibbetts Lumber sold the products at issue to ********** and not to Mr. **** personally. We feel that if Mr. **** has an issue with this it should be directed at ********** *********** as they are the owners of the product in question. Tibbetts Lumber delivered the product to the legal buyer of the product (********** ***********).
