Modern Roofing Experts and I entered into a contract on December 18, 2023 for a new roof. Prior to any work starting I challenged a $3900 upcharge for stucco repair not originally included in the scope. At they point Modern Roofing Experts cancelled my contract on Jun 10, 2024 stating they would be refunding my deposit in full. It's August 13, 2024 and they still will not return my deposit. They have returned my next door neighbors deposit a few weeks after the contract cancellation of their contract. They have been difficult to get ahold of since cancelling my contract.Business response

Customer was given his deposit back a cashier check was issued and hand delivered. Proposal signed back in December of ************************************************************* the proposal. Customer even asked if we knew of someone that did stucco work and we sent someone to give him a quote as well. On June *********************************************************************************************************************************** find another company that can do the work but this work had to be completed before installation of metal roof panels. See attached letter explaining why we saw the need to cancel contract.Customer response

We had a metal roof installed by MRE with a 20 year warranty. Last December our roof leaked, the contractor showed up and diagnosed the problem and said he would be back in two weeks to repair it. He has never come back and refuses to take my calls. Its been 5 months Ive called his cell phone (**** ************) and his office *************) hundreds of times and nobody will call me back.Initial Complaint

Contract signed in February 2023 The contractor misrepresented himself The work done on the roof was not according to contract The roof was to be replaced only some plywood was placed on a smaller attached roof.There was a false permit placed on the door of the property A coating was put on the old roof.There was no tear off of the old metal roof and no new metal placed on the roof We provide the person with 4200$ as a down payment The attempted to get another 3000$ but we stopped the check They left the job claiming they were finishedInitial Complaint

Roof leak detected after first heavy rain, located source of leak and contacted business om Monday 5/1/23. Was told by **** the office manager someone would be out to fix. I initially thought ******** was required, when the employee came out he said metal panels had to be removed to locate the source. No one has returned to correct the problem, calls and requests for repair our now being ignored with further damage every time it rains. *************************** the owner has a history of this kind of lack of response and utter disregard for his customers..Initial Complaint

During the reroof MRE caused upwards of 60k worth of damage to the interior of our home. They then tried to use what appeared to be an unlicensed contractor to try and fix it. after 72 hours of the water damage still not being fixed we hired an environmental company to assess the damage. The peel n stick also was not put on correctly which caused MORE damage to the interior of our home. They were extremely slow to respond and it took several calls and texts just to get them to come out and address it. 5 months later and we still never had our metal delivered or installed. I spoke with their metal manufacturer directly who told me MRE is behind on payments and that **** the owner of MRE told him that I should pay for the metal directly to the manufacturer.. Ive never in my life experienced a business so unprofessional dishonest and shady. This company has left us in such a terrible position especially financially. We expect money back from all the issues and poor workmanship.
