      I fulfilled a 12 month membership with Anytime Fitness in Summerfield Fl. I informed them one month before my contract was fulfilled I did not want to renew when my contract was over as I was moving out of state. I informed them again the week my contract terminated. They renewed my contract anyway and proceeder to continue to charge me. I have contacted the gym, customer service, even a corporate manager over 10 times to end my contract and stop being charged for service I did not sign up nor agree to. Since the account they were charging closed due to moving, they are now still charging me monthly and sending the unpaid balance to collections. Please advise how to end this company from falsifying a renewed contract, months of charges I did not agree to, and to end the invalid membership continuation and subsequent charges and collections charge.

      Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2022/08/16) */ At Anytime Fitness we take our obligations to our members very seriously and just as our members expect us to uphold our end of an agreement there is the expectation the member will uphold their end of the agreement. All our contracts include strict auto-renewal and cancellation policies. As long as a 30 days written notice (as specified in the agreement) is given before the end of a commitment the auto renewal can be removed. This was not provided by the member. After the commitment period, a contract can be cancelled with written notice provided at least 30 days in advance. Any payments within this time are still expected to be paid on time for the account to be cancelled, otherwise it becomes delinquent. After placing the notice on May 6, 2022 the member did not pay their final dues. This resulted in the account becoming delinquent and being unable to be cancelled. We have offered to remove the member from collections. Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2022/08/17) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Why was I not informed of this "simple" requirement when I inquired with the branch manager 6 months ago before the end of my contact, at the end of my contact, and 3 times after my contact? I called the branch manager at least 10 times regarding this manner and never received the necessary information to successfully cancel the auto renew. To ill inform a client, lie to a client, and withhold information from a client is nothing short of predatory. If this is all that was required then why was this very important information necessary to reach my goal (end my contact and not auto-renew) withheld from me? The branch manager told me nothing more was necessary from me and I quote "I will take care of it" - Tony. Furthermore when I inquired with corporate (3 times) I was also not provided this important information. Withholding information is negligent and preparatory on part of your employees. I have contacted this company 15 times to resolve this and the necessary information to end my auto renew and contract is not disclosed to me until I am pursing a negative review 6 months later? Don't you find that suspicious in nature? Why would your bussiness not let me know what was necessary to cancel the first 15 times I inquired? Why would your business wait 6 months to give me the information I requested? Please take responsibility for the actions of these negligent employees and make this right and I will take no rather action. Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2022/08/18) */ Though we are sorry if there were any difficulties or miscommunications regarding cancelling everything that you needed to do so was specified in the legally binding contract you signed. You specifically signed a clause that stated "I HAVE READ THE AUTHORIZATION TERMS AND GIVE CONSENT TO STORE MY BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION." Upon signing this you acknowledged that you were aware of the cancelation policies. We have already offered to remove you from collections, legally we do not have to do so and are extending this as a courtesy to help you and clear up this matter. This is to our understanding exactly the resolution you are searching for. No money that has already been received will be refunded.

      I signed up at Anytime fitness when I temporarily moved into the area. I discussed this when signing up and inquired about cancelation before signing up because i knew i would be moving. They assured me as long as I could prove my change of address was out of their range that there would be no issue. I left 9 months later and talked to the GM to cancel. I submitted a freeze form in June to allow myself enough time to get a piece of mail at the new address with my name on it so i could cancel properly when i got the letter in September. The freeze wasn't even applied until September and the cancellation was never submitted. I just found out that it was never canceled and I was charged for 9 additional months. When I reached out to the manager, Tony and Regional Manager, Stephanie they said I didn't have enough proof of the cancellation even though I handed it over to that same manager in person. I also have photos proving this was the case they denied it. From the start of this experience I did exactly what the manager told me (fill out the freeze form, provide mail showing i moved farther than 25 miles, and i spend over 10 hours on the phone trying to get this figured out) and they still screwed me out of hundreds of dollars. When I reached out to corporate they sent me a link that doesn't work and I have yet to receive a response.
