On 11/03/23 we had a broken spring on our garage door. I called *** and they sent someone out within the hour. After they took the door apart, they spent 3 hours doing a "hard sell". The $500.00 spring turned into $1,000. I was afraid after 3 hours that if I did not comply, they would not put my door back together. I kept asking the repair man if he was from a 3 party. He denied it. They would not take a check and was going to charge me 5% if I did not give them cash. The repair man followed my husband to a back for cash. The bill I received does not say ***, it says ASAP garage door repair. One hour after he left, the door quit working. They set up 3 appointments that they never showed up to. When they finally came, they said it's a motor problem and left. I still do not have a working door. The parts that they replaced, I looked up online, they charged me $127.00 for a hanger that cost $27.00. I am concerned about being retired in ******* and having a company taking advantage of me financially. I called the company and told them of my concerns, and they did not care. The motor on my garage door is only 7 years old and I believe they burned the motor out .Customer response

On 9/20/23, we contract USA Garage Door *** to solely replace a wheel for our front gate. They required 50% upfront and 50% after the work was completed. They came to replace the wheel, but also attempted to look at the gate motor and electrical workings. They left the chain off on the ground. ********************** came out thereafter to fix the motor/ electrical works and found it to be out place, costing of $853 to fix. They also need to order an additional part. When we inquired with *** Garage ***, they simply wanted to be paid the remaining amount and took no responsibility for the other issues they caused. Thereafter they threatened to come back on our property to take back the wheel they installed if they did not have payment immediately. I paid the remaining balance on 10/3/2023, less than 24 hours after their bullying business tactics. The check was cash immediately and they confirmed the receipt of payment. On 10/11/23, ********************** came back to fix the motor/electrical works, only to find that the wheel assembly that *** Garage *** had installed was gone and the electrical board was ruined and wires cut. When I called *** Garage ***, they admitted to take the part back - coming on our property and physically take it off our gate without permission because they said we didnt pay. I noticed the ************* Police to file a report. They called the owner who noted that they would refund us 50%. I have no confidence that we will ever see a dollar of our money, that we paid in good faith, only to have this company breach our privacy, trust and property. They continue to have an attitude of they did nothing wrong and believe that they are *********** any financial renumeration for the frustration and agony they put us through. I dont believe a company like this should be in business, as they are stealing.Initial Complaint

My garage door broke, called USA Garage Door as I had used the before, (found out that they were sold since then to these people.) Tech came down same day and explained that he would remove the Broken parts, inspect the rest of the mechanisms and give use a price. He came back with a price for Two spings and an adjustment of $1700+ . When I told him it was too much he said he would do it for $1600. I agreed and paid him. Later found out from others in my senior community it should have been between $400-650. Called the office and they immediately agreed to reimburse me for $200. Did not accept. The next day the tech called and offered me $300. I realized that if they were offering money back they too knew that they haa gorged us. Again I refused. They hung up. We are an elderly couple 87 and 85 and I think they have taken advantage of us not knowing (we have been at home over two years alone due to covid) .This I believe is elder abuse and should be investigated. I am sure we are not the only ones they are doing this to. They knew I needed the door fixed to be able to get to a ************* knew this had just happened and they quickly sent someone over before I could check prices. By lowering the original price quickly and then offering me money back they do not have set prices. It is taking advantage of limited knowledge that many of us older people have in regards to home repairs.
