      W.E.C. Heating & Air Conditioning installed a new AC mini split at our house. We paid the on the day of the installation and unit on 5/18/2023. The AC unit was not installed properly and we noticed wet spots and mold in our kids bedroom. We notified W.E.C. and they came by fixed the issue and readily admitted that the unit hadn't been installed properly and leaked. They also committed to the repair of the wall and ceiling of the bed room. We provided estimates and vendors, but W.E.C. wanted to use their own providers. They sent somebody to fix the dry wall, but the patch was poorly done and the drywall pattern did not match the rest of the wall. The painter let us know that the drywall need to be replaced in order for him to paint the wall and ceiling. W.E.C. has been less and less responsive to our phone calls and took little or no initiative to get the repairs completed.

      We responded to the leaking water immediately and corrected the issue.  W.E.C. also offered to have all of the repairs completed at our cost.  The owner sent over quotes she requested from other companies.  WEC informed her we would be happy to pay the repair bill our resources would have charged and she could apply that to what was owed for the company she sought out.  WEC also let her know she was not forced to use the contractors we suggested but she did need to obtain at least Two other quotes from different companies as the ones she provided appeared to be unusually high.  She refused to do so and decided to move forward with our suggested contractors.  The work was performed or was attempted to be performed.  The owner sent an email stating that the drywall repair wasn't suitable suddenly even though it had been made for several weeks before the painter came.  WEC contacted the drywall contractor used and gave him full consent to replace all the drywall in that area as requested by the customer.  The drywall company was informed by WEC to contact the customer and schedule the work as soon as his work schedule would allow for.  WEC Has done all we can to accommodate the customer with this issue and My Office has several emails that show attempted contact with the customer which has been unsuccessful many times on owners part.  We have done everything requested by the owner to rectify this situation within reason.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      This is correct, W.E.C. readily accepted responsibility for the damage caused by the improper installation of a mini split on the second floor. It is also correct that we provided two estimates for the repair, which included the drywall repair and painting.

      As mentioned in the W.E.C. response, it took several weeks for the drywall contractor to come and then another several weeks before the painter came. The painter - not us - pointed out the mistakes of the drywall repair and let us know that the water damages will be clearly visible if he would just paint over the patch. I followed up with W.E.C. and so did the painter.

       

      It's now 3 months and W.E.C. has still to remediate the water damages caused by their AC installation. I'm looking forward to hearing from W.E.C. when the job will be completed.

      In the meantime, please keep the complaint open.

      Can the customer state exactly what it is they would like.  I suggested to them if they wanted to use one of their own contractors they needed to get 3 estimates for each trade.  3 Sheetrock quotes and 3 Painter quotes. That is standard procedure.  The owner chose not to do so.  The contractors WEC hired are not employed by us and are completely separate companies.  I unfortunately am not in control of their schedule and can not decide when they complete the work we send to them.  When WEC contacted the sheetrock guy to discuss the issues the painter mentioned he was more than two weeks out before he could set a date.  If the sheetrock company has not contacted Mrs. ****** it would be helpful if she could let us know.  We explained to her in the beginning that these companies don't work for us directly and if they were not being contacted in a timely manner to please let us know so we could follow up with said contractor.  WEC has tried our best to handle this inconvenience in the most professional way possible.  If there is something specific Mrs. ****** would like if she could let us know we will be happy to do all we can to accommodate.
