My name is ******, SFIC Claim Number *********** which was filed 8/28/21 after Hurricane ***. I was notified 10/6/21 that the claim had been assigned to Mid-******************** Services and an adjuster in my area was responsible for contacting me by 10/10/21 to set up an inspection. The adjuster showed up on 10/12/21 and told me I had roof damage on the rear of my house where it downslopes where the heaviest winds would have hit. He used chalk and **** lines and numbers, from what I could see. On 11/4/21, I received a loss check, minus my deductible, made out to myself and my mortgage company. I immediately called my roofing contractor to request him to repair my roof. He was backed up so I tried calling around to no avail. My roofing contractor finally made it out mid March 2022 and said there was no repairing this roof. The shingles seal had been compromised due to the shingles sustaining winds exceeding their warranty. I needed a new roof! He worked up a new quote for me and I was able to get a desk adjuster on the phone who seemed very helpful. She instructed me to e-mail the quote immediately and they would get to it hopefully within 2 weeks and mail the difference due me out by then. They were no longer sending adjusters out on these type requests. This was 3/25/22. Today is 4/29/22. Im e-mailing and leaving phone messages every day with no response. Its very frustrating when you want to know whats going on with your claim and are unable to get in touch with anyone at all! Its almost hurricane season and I need a new roof! I have asthma and now have a continuous cough and headaches I assume from mold and mildew coming from the new stains on the ceiling. I do know that LA Insurance commissioner ************************* has a law in place meant to protect homeowners from long waits. Guess its time to notify him as hes requested! I would avoid this company at all costs.Southern Fidelity Insurance Company Response

Be careful with this company, we have a policy and they will not call us back or tell us if our claim is approved or not. The roof is damaged, leaking and now mold has developed becoming a health issue. Their inspector/adjuster saw all this when they did their inspection in November and they still won't tell us anything. We keep calling and being told to leave a message for ************************* and never allowed to talk to a manger or supervisor. Our claim # is 12*******23.Southern Fidelity Insurance Company Response

I have been homeless for almost 4 months since hurricane ***. Still am not able to speak to someone regarding my ALE. How can you insure something you have no control over, i.e ..my bank balance at the time of the disaster . I am seeking clarification on **************** of Use because it appears to be moonlighting as insurance when it is in all actuality a "repayment plan" contingent on the amount of money I have and am able to spend at the time of the disaster. To be insured I would need to have payed the last three months hotel stay out of pocket and be reimbursed, correct?Good ***** Agreements R.S. 22:1973 (1) . Fair dealing goes hand in hand with good faith when under contract. Fair dealing is not just honesty, fair dealing requires that a party cannot act contrary to the spirit of the contract even if you give the opposing party notice that you intend to do so.("incurred ") When the court system is determining if a party has breached a contract they have to look to see if the parties have upheld the duty of good faith and fair dealing. Your dealings in this matter have not been in good faith or fair. That puts you in breach of contract and in violation of ********* LawSouthern Fidelity Insurance Company Response

I have been waiting for months since Hurricane *** hit to hear from them and i have heard nothing. I sent in my contents list only to be told that my contents will not be covered due to it being from a power surge. This is ridiculous. I have only reactive a check for **** for my repairs when that will not be nearly enough. This is the worst company that I have ever dealt with. Horrible service, horrible management, horrible EVERYTHING.Review from Johnny H

Hi my name is *************************** during Hurricane *** my shingles was tore off my house due to extensive Hurricane Damage the following few days we had a company called restore masters drop off a brochure so called them singled a paper they turned me over to a Velocity public adjuster, did not no the existed, did my research found out public adjuster works for you and the insurance adjuster works for the insurance adjuster so my adjuster got with SFI adjuster and put a proposal together on Damages Public adjuster had a guy peerless restoration and construction basically a midagatfion company come in and take down all the damage materials to stop mold in its tracks my wife and kids had to find another place to live they had to restore tv and Internet at the new place all cost money NOTE STILL NO CORRESPONDENCE with fidelity want answer my calls or emails, although they did say my claim was in process last week through an e mail and my wife did get her first ALE check last Friday but she as to get this until our house is fixed so seems to me it would be fidelity Best interest to provide us money to get it fixed and get out of there hair because I am not going away my next option is to hire an attorney witch I dont like todo so if you read this fidelity need to communication or I will be forced to plan B I need your help there is a saying u pay now are it will cost u more later but this want hurt u because u leave money in the bank let it drawl interest and then pay but what ****** me off more is no communication want answer there calls like they are avoiding me in time of needReview from Kelli B

Absolutely horrible insurance company. I filed claims on 2 properties the day after Hurricane ***. The first adjuster that showed up ended up leaving town and never filing a claim. The only way I found out was from numerous calls to check on the status of the claim. It took nearly a month to get legit adjusters out to both properties. I finally received a check 6 weeks after hurricane and it is not enough for damages. We are still waiting on payment for 2nd property. They allegedly have emergency services available, such as a roof tarp and mold remediation. I applied for both services and no one ever showed up. Desk adjusters do not respond to emails or phone calls, there is no follow up and no way to check claim status. This company is not equipped to handle major disasters and should not be allowed to be in business.Review from Charlene W.

Very unhappy with the service I recently received. I Filed a claim on July 28, 2021 due to a cracked septic system. I found out on today that the claim was denied because of normal wear and tear even though this system is only about three years old on a new construction home. I'll accept the claim was denied but the claims desk adjuster was very rude and unprofessional when I simply wanted me details on why the claim was denied. Nothing against the company but your employees can make you look bad.Review from Whitney C

Southern Fidelity will make a mistake on your dwelling payment and then decide well since that happened you just won't get your contents. What is the point of having my house fixed after a catastrophic hurricane if I cannot afford to furnish because "whoops we made a mistake sorry". Then they tell you "well we don't pay you to better yourself". I don't see how living in a 33 foot camper for almost a year with my husband and 3 young children is "bettering myself" but whatever. The employees at the call center or whatever lack the basic sensitivity and empathy to deal with customers who have experienced multiple weather disasters in a short period of time. I am counting down the days until our policy comes for renewal and we can go with someone else. After reading the other reviews I am glad to know that I am not overreacting and that poor customer service and follow through is typical for these people. Southern Fidelity, please do not ask me to call you. There is nothing you can do short of paying us our contents and ALE that will rectify this situation.
