I have property at Unit #**** at Storage Zone, *** ** ******* ******, ***********. I have been a tenant (various units) 17 years. I have arthritis and renal problems. I hav been working on writing projects the last few years -- the last time I visited my storage locker property was several years ago -- I thought all fine. As soon as I had money and time -- when I got social security -- I intended to start visiting again. In the meantime, rent was paid through June 30, 2022. On April 18 I received a frantic email telling me that storage zone was renovating my building and I needed to be out by May 15, and that I could get a partial refund after moveout. I have photos, pottery I made while taking an art for teachers class (during my brief stint as a teacher) and many writing projects I have started. Also memories of my pets. Not much of value to others thus and not much replaceable. So I went by the locker to clean up. The place was covered in rat feces and fur -- something never mentioned to me. All my goods pretty much were packed into boxes with cedar and baking soda and old pest control baits. So for the most part all my stuff was fine. But my health is frail and I became ill -- renal problems, sepsis.I cannot pack this fast -- I have no help, no money to hire anyone. I found out that the tenant near me (an auto repair company) was not asked to move -- that is good -- he does AC work and I know someone who needs his help. But me, I have nowhere to go without the rent money I paid at least, & no help packing -- I want to clean up my stuff and find another unit at storage zone and use my existing rent, despite the high price. At least today the lady has offered to let me keep packing till May 31. I wish I'd known about the rat sooner. I gather not much pest control is used now. (I began renting a storage unit with Classic Store on Capital Circle in the summer of 2006, and Storage Zone acquired Classic Store)
