Statehouse Arena has charged egregiously unreasonable charges to tenants, including my son (for whom I am also listed on the lease), to move out of their apartment. Statehouse Arena is attempting to pass on the expenses to tenants who are vacating their apartment for which Statehouse Arena is responsible.

We have supplied this individual with the move out video taken of the apartment that his son and his son's roommates vacated, showing the exact condition it was left in.  This was one of the highest charged apartments this August because of the damages the residents in this apartment caused.  This apartment was 100% brand new, just built when his son and his roommates moved into the apartment.  In the move out video, you can see that the place was left very dirty and a lot of damage was done to this apartment.  The living room furniture was not able to be steam cleaned to a point where we could let a new resident move in on it, so one of the sofa sections had to be replaced.  There was sheetrock missing on the corners in sections in the common area and several places where something was mounted using large bolts on the living room walls was left with large holes we had to do major sheetrock repairs to, and the walls were filthy.  No apartment should need a full paint and that much sheetrock repair after only 2 years of occupancy.  The pantry door had a hole in it, as did his son's bathroom door, so both of those doors were replaced at their expense.  One of the smoke detectors was gone in the common area, and the end table and coffee table were both left broken and had to be replaced.  There was dried raw egg smashed all over the balcony out back that was never cleaned off that had to be pressure washed off the balcony.  This apartment is a college apartment, but this is one of the worst apartments we turned this year.  Yes, the damages done to this apartment and the cleaning that was required to bring it back to rentable, was charged back to the residents.  All common area damages was split evenly between the residents, and the bedroom/bathroom damages was billed back to each resident individually, as each was responsible for their own bedroom/bathroom damages in full.  This is a now 2 year old apartment community, and this particular apartment was the most damaged apartment we saw this year.  The residents are unhappy that they were charged back for the damage they inflicted to their own apartment.  Their apartment, that was brand new when they moved in, upon move out, required a great deal of painting, cleaning, damage repairs, furniture replacement and pressure washing because of the extent of damage they caused.  All charges are justified and will stand.

I am rejecting this response because: this business has engaged in, and is continuing to engage in, a deceptive and unfair business practice.  The subject apartment was left in relatively good condition for an apartment that had been lived in for two years. This business is exorbitantly overcharging all four tenants of the subject apartment. There is no way that the claimed expenses by this unscrupulous business are fair and reasonable.  This business is massively overcharging the amount of the claimed expenses for the apartment.  As an attorney, and as a former prosecutor, I have dealt with businesses and landlords that are credible businesses that conduct themselves in good faith and reasonably.  However, this business is engaging in a scheme that is deceptive, unfair, unethical, and unreasonable. Shame on them. The public deserves to know the truth about this businesss unscrupulous business practices.

      Regards,

On Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 I was informed by a future randomly assigned roommate that the apartment I would be moving into in 4 days (August 20, 2023) had a cat. I called the apartment complex (Statehouse Varsity) with concerns due to the fact that the application I had filled out months prior to being assigned a roommate stated I was allergic to animals and could not live with them. The business willingly placed me in an apartment with an animal with previous knowledge that I was allergic. The business responded to my complaint by requesting I email the leasing manager of the complex. I did and was answered within the hour. I was told that there was an opening in another unit of my same floorplan that they were willing to move me in to but I had to wait for them to find someone to replace my spot first. I responded by asking if I would be able to move in to the apartment on the normal move in day as well as with inquiries relating to the pricing of the unit. I was left unanswered for 2 hours so I emailed again stressing the importance of my repositioning due to my asthma and allergy and was left unanswered. I called the complex the next day and was told the leasing manager would be in contact with me regarding my email. My father also called them about the issue to which they responded they would work on it and give me a call the same day (August 17th, 2023) . It is now 5pm on August 17, 2023 and the office has closed and my emails remain unanswered and I have yet to receive a call providing me more information on where I will be moving into in 3 days. I have also already been charged for rent for the month of August and it is unsure what unit I will be living in.
