Im a homeowner, and at the end of the year my insurance company sends me a check, from monies thats left over, I went to Anscot to cash check, because banks were closed, and I was racially profiled, and told they wouldnt cash check, I was asked during transaction what was the purpose of check, asked for manager, was told they couldnt cash check, while the lady in the background was laughing and picking because they wouldnt cash check.Amscot Corporation Response

Amscot is in receipt of the consumer review of ***** ******** (“Mr. ********”). We thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Upon a careful review of this matter, however, there does not appear to have been any error on Amscot’s part.
Mr. ******** came to Amscot to cash a check. Federal law requires Amscot and other financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies those individuals who conduct certain tractions, such as cashing checks. Accordingly, Amscot requires customers to show valid government-issued photo ID and to provide their name, address, date of birth, a social security number, information regarding their occupation, as well as other relevant information, such as the transaction details. This government-mandated practice is prominently displayed in the lobby of each Amscot branch. The same information, along with Amscot’s privacy policy, is also available on Amscot’s website.
In this instance, it was necessary for Amscot to verify the check before cashing it. Unfortunately, verification was not possible at the hour Mr. ******** came to the branch. Accordingly, Amscot was unable to cash Mr. ********’s check at that time. This decision was entirely unrelated to Mr. ********’s race and any claims of racial profiling are without merit.
Amscot sincerely apologizes to Mr. ******** for the negative experience. Amscot has reached out to Mr. ******** directly to address his concerns. Mr. ******** has stated he is happy with the resolution.

I was at ********* in ***** to get a loan and pay my electric bill. A young lady named ***** was extremely helpful, as I had not done this in a long time. She made what was a somewhat cumbersome process to go through so easy, and she was nothing but pleasant the entire time. Very horrible customer service. Went for a ********************** order. **** said I had to fill in a form . Never in 20 years have I had to do that. **** didnt explain anything just walked away. Then another lady came over to do the money order and walked away as I refuse to give my social if ur not telling me why . Then a guy came over. Was very unprofessional. I asked for the paper back with my information. He refused and quickly put it in the shredded and it jammed. He stated he could not give me the paper because it had amscot logo on it. But it had all my person information. I spoke to corporate and was told yes they are supposed to return my information to customer when requested. The guy would not even cut out my information to give back to me. So why am I going to trust u with my social if ur business is doing shady things.Needless to say. Went to another amscot and had zero issues. Poor customer service and that was the icing on the cake. Not an amscot I will be using. Very unprofessional and not exceptable. They have my money of $385.00 and can't help me find it in a uncashed money order that I purchased and won't give me back my money. This has been since July 2023. I have contacted them like 5 times and I keep getting the same run around. They keep saying they have thousands of people who purchase that amount in a money order from that particular store but I say it wouldn't be cashed because I accidentally shredded it. They say they can't find any evidence of it for 7 years and then it would go to the **************** after 7 years. This is not right.Review from Marcus A

I was shocked at how *************** the female store clerk was when I came back in from charging my phone. When I first walked in I was greeting by the polite and respectful ***** she instructed me on how to do everything cause she recognized that this was my first time doing this process. When I had some difficulties sending in the correct documents here came *** with a condescending tone and slick sardonic remarks telling me to listen with my ears and when I sent the correct document blurting out Finally I asked if she was ok and she ignored me and told me shed be right back and went to go help another customer. I missed a signature and she was flinging the paper through the slot Id sign and pass it back and shed fling it through the slot again. I hope there where cameras in there cause she need training anger management and a hug I do not recommend letting anyone interact with *** she had glasses and a *** styled lace front. Just in case those are not ther real names and they change it out. She said let me know when you get the code I asked did you send it to the right number cause Im not getting anything she replied I sent it to the one you gave Im like what kind of response is that could you please repeat the number outloud to make sure its correct it was the correct number but she never sent the code like what is going onAmscot Corporation Response

Went in on 16 Aug 23 at 10:45pm after calling first and verifying that they do ************* wires.Once I arrived, I was given an Amscot financial agreement contract and told that ** wire cannot be made without signing and releasing A LOT of personal information to Amscot to include SSN. My ID card was out of my view with the clerk for about 5 mins. When I asked the clerk if security watching cameras and working in the back could verify that no action was made with my govt ID card, clerk said that she was alone at the location.Very strange situation! Resulted in me not being able to send a wire during an emergency as all other ** locations closed bc I went to amscot.Amscot Corporation Response

I purchased a money order to pay for my new grandson insurance policy, on March 6th, and the end of April I received a notice from the insurance company, that they had not received the payment, so I contacted Amscot, they told me I had to purchase a money order for $12.00 for Amscot to investigate, however the the agent used the money order stub to pull up the money order on the computer and saw that it had not been cashed, and it's May and it still isn't found or cashed. So, if they can see that it's never been cashed, it obviously lost, and the agent told me it'll take 6 weeks to refund my money, on top of me pay $12.00 for them to just see that it's not been cashed. I will never purchase money order(s) or deal with Amscot again.Review from Jared H

The manager and her employee was rude and disrespectful. Her employee named Aurora snatched the money out of my mother's hand and didn't even apologize anbd then started giving us a dirty look.Review from Lana N
