Big Wave did not properly dry my home and did not remove baseboards in rooms flooded from an outside faucet. Now I have mold and my house is going to need major repairs. ******** ******* workers broke a faucet and flooded my master bedroom. Big Wave showed up and found plenty of water but they would not remove the baseboards and the kickboard under the bathroom cabinet. They just left a lot of fans. And told me when my husband got home to call and negotiate with them. I guess to do the work properly. Paul came out on day 2 and my husband wanted the baseboards taken up. Paul declined to do it. Said it would cost ******** too much and didn’t need to be done. I sent 2 emails to ******** roofing asking for the baseboards to be taken up 2 days after the flood. They did not respond to those emails. Now we have mold behind the baseboards and are waiting on an insurance adjuster. We have a major repair and inconvenience in our future and are scared and frustrated that our home has been so damaged by negligence. If Paul had removed my baseboards when the water intrusion occurred, I don’t think I would have a problem now. Instead I am anxiously waiting on an insurance adjuster, experiencing extreme anxiety, sleeplessness that is ruining my health and face months of repairs on my home. Paul and Big Wave sent a “report” to ******** that included some pics of instrument readings to say my house was dry. His readings were wrong or not complete enough. And he refuses to take responsibility for anything or talk to us.Big Wave Restoration, LLC Response

We were called out to this homeowners home by ******** ******* after damage occurred to a outside spigot on 10/11/22. We arrived a couple hours after the initial call (4:30pm) and inspected the water damage with moisture meters and thermal cameras and noticed the master bedroom lower exterior wall/baseboard was wet and also the toe kick in the master bathroom vanity was wet. We didn't perform any demo of the area and set a total of 5 airmovers and 2 dehumidifiers in the master bedroom and bathroom. Our technicians told ****** that we would be back within 48 hours to check the status of the drying. A little after 9am on 10/13/22 the homeowner called and left a voicemail to make sure we were coming out to get them out of her house. Before we had a chance to call back the homeowner back her husband **** called and told us if we didn't get our equipment out he would be putting our **** by the street. I advised him we would be out around 4-5pm like originally stated to ****** 2 days prior. I arrived with one of our project managers around 4-4:30 and inspected the areas that were originally wet. The toekick of the vanity was dry and documented with pictures and the baseboards in the master bedroom was still slightly wet which was also documented. Homeowner **** asked why we didn't remove the baseboards to dry it faster as he's been researching all day on google and that what it says to do. We advised him that we don't always need to tear apart a home to dry it out as that's why we place equipment in here to handle it. We asked if he wanted us to pull the baseboards now and he said he just wants the equipment out right away. We explained everything should be dry by tomorrow afternoon. At no time did we say anything would cost ******** too much money as they don't direct us on what to do or not do as this is not their specialty. The entire time we were there the homeowners didn't agree with anything we were doing. We came back out the next day checked the baseboards and reached dry standard which was documented with photos. We advised the homeowner about the staining of his glue downed hardwood floors by the window and he said that he was able to locate it from whoever sold/flipped the home and that he would charge ******** triple the amount for the material. We pulled the equipment and left. I'm not sure why the house would need major repairs if the main concern was just removing the baseboards even though we have documentation showing it was dry.Customer Response

************************ came out and pulled back the baseboards. They saw mold and called their insurance company. I do not accept ***** report that the baseboards were dry. The water was inside an exterior wall and drained out into the room. Therefore the back of the baseboards were wetter than the front. We repeatedly asked for the baseboards to be remove both in person and in emails. Not sure why we were ignored.Review from Yvonne C

Had a flooded first floor big wave came out next day cleaned up all the water, put some equipment on the walls to find water damage. Had dehumidifiers running to correct the water damage. Found where the leak was coming from and we were back to normal again after they repaired the issue. Will always call them. They get the job done right and quickly.Big Wave Restoration, LLC Response

This owner is the biggest thief going. He'll rob you blind. I had a faucet leak from my hose source outside. The plumber had to open the side of the house to fix the pipe. When they came to give me an estimate saying they can fix everything, but he told me he can't give me an amount until the job is done. First red flag. He told me I had water in my wall that needs to be dried out. All repairs would be made. He had two fans in my house for 48 hours, that's all he did. When the came to pick up their fans he said I needed to find someone else to do the rest of the repairs because they were to busy. When I said I'm going through my insurance company their eyes get big. Bottom line....my insurance company paid $1625.00 for having two fans in my house for 48 hours. THATS IT!!!! Nothing else was done. Insurance fraud, thief and gouger. Thank goodness for Karma...it's real!!!Big Wave Restoration, LLC Response

We were hired by this homeowner to complete water mitigation and mold remediation. She signed our work authorization just for these services and not any repair work because we don't do siding work or exterior work that needs repaired where the plumber cut her OSB out of the exterior wall. The homeowner called us out originally on 8/10/21 and wanted to wait until she filed a claim before we performed any mitigation work. She called us back on 8/11/21 which was the next day sign our work authorization and provided her claim number to complete the mitigation and mold remediation. We removed her baseboards, cleaned and treated the mold on the bottom of her drywall, and baseboards. We did not place 2 fans, we placed a air mover, dehumidifier, and a air scrubber. All of this was documented and pictures taken showing the areas wet and where the mold was and submitted all of this to her insurance company. We use a estimating software called Xactimate which her insurance company uses as well for pricing. Her insurance company paid our full invoice and sent it to the homeowner to pay our invoice. As of this reply 9/29/21 we still haven't been paid by the homeowner. We have tried to speak with the homeowner and just because she doesn't agree with our pricing she hangs up on us. I'm not sure why she thinks we (or I) are thieves, price gougers, or committing insurance fraud. Her insurance company paid her to pay us, they never questioned us about what was in it because we had pictures, moisture readings, and documentation to support our estimate.Customer Response

They are a very sneaky company. They sent the invoice to my insurance company and I knew nothing of what was on that invoice. I called my insurance company to find out what was going on and she said we got the invoice and it's for over $1600. I was a palled. First they promised they would do the work and then after they set up the fans they said they are too busy. Those were their exact words. Not until I was angry did they sent me the invoice and I got to go through it and see all the phony charges on there. The reason why we pay such high premiums on these insurances is because of the scammers who gouge. My insurance company approved it because they had no idea what was done in my house which was nothing but two fans drying the wall which wasn't even hardly wet. I stand my ground they are scammers they're gougers, This is why we pay high insurance because of companies like that.Big Wave Restoration, LLC Response

We were hired to do water mitigation and mold remediation for the customer not any repairs. She signed and initialed our work authorization for JUST those services. We have text messages back and forth with the homeowner showing that we working with her insurance company Allstate for the portion of the work we were hired to do. Again WE don't set the pricing her insurance company does with a program we use called Xactimate. We billed her insurance company for the work that was performed and submitted pictures and documentation showing what was done and also the areas that were wet and had mold. We have tried to work with the homeowner to educate her on what we did and why the insurance company paid our invoice. The insurance company issued the check to pay us in full and sent that to the homeowner. As of this date 10/1/21 we still haven't been paid by the homeowner for a job that we completed on 8/13/21. Since we have yet to be paid and are being slandered and defamed we will be sending all communication over to our attorneys to move forward with legal action.Customer Response

When you came here to look at the job and I showed you the side of the house your employee said oh that's an easy fix. I would've never hired you if you said we cannot do that work. He didn't tell me he wouldn't do that work until he set up the fans. You were very misleading and we've spoken several times and my is still a mess. You were paid on September 30 and the check will be delivered on and October 7, just as we discussed.Big Wave Restoration, LLC Response

We have been communicating back and forth via text with the homeowner to try and come to some middle ground. We received her payment today 10/6/21 for the mitigation and mold remediation work that we were hired for. I have offered to send our crew out to her home to reattach her baseboards at no charge even though she didn't sign for us to do any repair work and still waiting to hear back. In regards to the side of house (siding and wood OSB repairs) which is part of the repairs we were not hired for, I have offered to have someone come out to take a look since it's something we don't handle. The work she is talking about is all repair work she never hired us for. I've offered to help the homeowner even though we've been slandered consistently online by this customer.
