I had a flood in July 2023. ****************** sent Graystone Property Restoration to mitigate mold and fix all of the damage. It is now four months later and it has been nothing but constant back and forth. I have a 1 year old baby thats been living in a house with black mold because the project manager cannot seem to get the correct work orders in. He sporadically comes, often cancelling appointments. Yesterday on 11/9/23, I was under the impression he was coming to have me sign off on the finalized orders to get the work started. Instead I was met with the project manager saying that work they were going to do and replace to remediate the flood would in fact not be done, though for the months prior I was told this was part of the restoration. At this point I have zero faith in the company as they have not been able to write up work orders for work that we have asked them to write up on many occasions. There have been nothing but empty promises and my families health is suffering living in a home with black mold. On numerous occasions staff at Graystone told me that this was not a health hazard, though it surely is. We walk into the house and our throats close up and noses start running. This is not a healthy way to be living for anyone. This company is completely inept and likely keep having the project manager come out to the home to keep charging the insurance company for these meaningless visits. Living with exposed black mold, especially in young children, often leads to life long respiratory issues. I am not sure that the insurance company knows what their vendors are doing to people like me but something must be done.

Graystone billed us for $5000 in work that they KNEW was not accomplished and has since given 4 varied quotes. All of these quotes incorporate work not accomplished and they do not have evidence that the work was done properly.

    Graystone Restoration Response

    06/11/2024

This is not entirely accurate.  It is true that we did not perform all of the scope of work quoted, some at the customer's request and some by oversight.  The work that we omitted by oversight was ancillary to repairing the water damage, including such items as detaching fixtures/shelves to paint and masking some items that got paint spatter.  Our Project Manager has been revising the estimate based on the items the customer has added to the things they believe we did not perform on a piecemeal basis over the past month or so.  Our Project Manager has made errors in reducing the original estimate as the customer has brought additional items to his attention.  Our PM is new to dealing with insurance restoration software and this transaction involves an estimate for the customer's insurance company and one for the customer.  Our PM has had a hard time making changes to the two estimates as there are over 100 items.  However, our PM has been submitting revisions for the customer's input and consideration and has been trying to negotiate the final number.  Our PM has not been asking for the original amount to be paid since this discussion about reduced scope was brought up.

I will take over dealing with this customer to attempt to resolve the billing dispute.  As for evidence of the work, there was visible water damage to the customer's home and it has been repaired.  We performed the drywall, paint, and trim carpentry repairs that were water damaged.
