In 2018 I was diagnosed w/2 stage 4 cancers. ************************************* removed my rib and then kidney and removed the cancers. Unfortunately the closing up of my incisions were not done properly as my hole left side has my guts pushing through. ******** said I have a thin layer holding on. He said it couldnt be fixed and to be careful. Wanted me to go to the pain clinic for the discomfort of what I would call a massive hernia. After 5 years normally clean scans are equated to release from Moffitt and a cancer free diagnosis. They informed me my charity was no longer available after complaining about the massive hernia so I wont know if Im ok ever now. They dont even realize that the scan technician didnt remove my contrast iv properly and pumped some contrast into a big bubble on my wrist. I wont complain about that because I see how they react if not happy. I am grateful for the cancer removal but unhappy with their integrity so be very careful with the inexperienced techs and ********** attitude,

Moffitt save my life in 2017. That was in Pembroke Pines. I had stage 4, very aggressive cancer. I won't say what because it's a give-a-way to who I am, but they got me into remission. So I moved to Tampa so that if/when the cancer came back, I would be right here by the home of Moffitt. And it did come back. And here I am. And yes they have great facilities. But I'm really disappointed with their follow-up and care. I'm through 6 months of treatments now and I have not seen my oncologist once since it started. I only see nurses, none of whom are impressive. They all call me "my friend" as if we're Hispanic--and they're not Hispanic so I'm guessing it's just Culturally misappropriate training coming from some top-level social worker who is Hispanic (really, for me, as a ******, it's creepy to be called "my friend" by people I've never met before). The radiation doctor is great and he's always saying, "talk to the head of your team..." What head of my team? I don't see the guy, I don't hear from him. He doesn't even respond to the radiologist's emails. I'm just sharing a part of the experiences of indifference. Moffit is just another big bureaucracy that's out of touch with it's clientele... Yeah, disappointed, very disappointed. Not sure anymore why the I moved here. 

Be careful when trying to be a patient at this hospital, it is for profit only. 10 years ago my partner was denied access to this hospital because he did not have good health insurance and they wanted a down payment to accept him as a patient

Moffitt enrolled my husband in a clinical trial that caused COPD. He passed on January 10th of cardio respiratory failure after extensive and lengthy suffering directly caused my Moffitt Cancer Center treatment. He did not pass from cancer but front the effects of their radical treatment. Then they dismissed him and we were told to call Hospice. This facility is non compassionate and cares only about their data. Go anywhere else if diagnosed

Absolutely horrible and completely careless. My mother is disabled with stage 4 cancer in her lungs and brain. Weve had so many issues big and small its unbelievable. Completely disgusted with the lack of empathy, lack of care, unprofessionalism and rudeness.

Moffitt put my sister on a trial and told her to come back and if that trial didnt work they would try something else when she came back. They told her she had no chance they had an offer the second trial I lost my sister.

What a complete disaster area this Moffit Cancer Center is. If you have the option to be treated at Tampa General, then this will be much better and much safer.

One of the most unprofessional hospitals / doctor offices I have even been to. The nurses are completely incompetent and blame back office when they drop the ball. This started when we had an virtual initial appointment with a nurse named Candice *******. That appointment was ok (despite that she seemed annoyed when we asked questions or responded in a way that was inconsistent with her expectations of symptoms). She told us that we'd get an appointment with the doctor within a week. However, scheduling team said nothing is available for 3 weeks. When we tried to reach out to her, she was initially unresponsive (probably because she knew she mislead us) and then cancelled a PET scan that was scheduled without telling us. When we finally had an appointment with Dr Kim, he was very rude and had terrible bedside manner. That aside, he was looking for excuses to not treat. He asked to do some test and he would decide to treat based on that. The test was fine, but he still said no treatment should be given. Without any explanation. I was willing to let this go and chuck it up to a couple bad apples. But we had an appointment with a hemotologist later for another matter. The doctor didnt show up to the appointment and his staff blamed the scheduling team. I'm not sure if this is ****** or lack of professionalism or perhaps they just don't want to treat complex patients to make their numbers look better. Either way, this place is terrible and I hope no one ever has to deal with them.

I accompanied a friend to ***************************** for his stage IV cancer treatment. We initially felt confident in seeing if Moffitt had a second opinion of treatment for his Prostate cancer. There was good guidance about not doing cryosurgery previously advised here in *******. The treatment recommendation was different, and we felt we were moving in the right direction. After 4 months, we asked to have his next appt. with the primary Doctor, as she was soon scheduled for personal leave for a few months. Besides his monthly shot, the intent of the visit was to consider a drug vacation. She scheduled a scan that would be a baseline to evaluate his progress. My friend is very claustrophobic and all but begged twice for a few anxiety pills to take just prior to the scan as his other doctor had done for previous successful scans. She refused him even after a second request. This med. was on his previous charts and even the prep sheet given to him referred to such medication in preparation for the scan. When questioned her nurse proceeded to cancel the scan and advised him to go elsewhere for it. What started out as a hopeful relationship with this provider soon plummeted to an awful sense of rejection and possible prejudice. He was very concerned that if things went downhill, would she be there for him. We also contacted a ****** patient advocate department concerning his experience and were promised a follow up call by a supervisor- which never happened. Nevertheless, he has returned to his previous doctor with ** Cancer Specialists who have treated him with profound respect. As his health care advocate, I give one star for all the kindness of other staff. This does not negate the Doctors behavior. I advise research and homework before making a caregiver decision.Refused to help me why? Never any follow up call from anyone with authority. Knowing my problems with being claustrophobic why would you refuse to help me get through a scan that you yourself scheduled?

A painful experience occurred in Oct. '22 at your radiology building. My friend drove 5 hours for an MRI Guided Biopsy scheduled at 9:30 AM. The experience from the start was not good. • She had to beg to have a vein detector b/c her veins are hard to tap into. Then had a brief discussion w/ the person performing the procedure who expressed concerns about his ability to competently perform what was being requested • She has severe back pain and had issues with getting comfortable on the bed while shooting the contrast. After what was a long uncomfortable time, a nurse came in and told her she could take a break and move her head and arm until the doctor came back in. She did what she was told she could do and moved her head and arm. The doctor came back in and told her they could not continue since she had moved. • At that point she did not understand why she is being penalized and denied treatment for following directions. Although the nurse denies this ever occurred • Biopsy should have been taken before the mammogram which is post procedure. • To add insult to injury she was escorted off the premises by security and forced to drive 5 hours back to Tallahassee with an IV needle still left in her arm • Her appointment was on 11/15 and as she was being escorted out, the Director stated that she was upsetting cancer patients, which escalated the issue, as it was discounted that she was in fact a cancer patient and their actions have already upset her Based on her experience it would be very hard to recommend this facility for any cancer related treatment or medical treatment for that fact, as they have no empathy or concern for their patients. This was a truly unexpected experience to have while seeking treatment at a professional medical facility, let alone a NCI designated facility. Very disappointed in the treatment and lack of empathy for their patients. They did reach out to address the concerns, but you can't remedy this situation, once you lose trust.
