On May 2, 2024 I hired CB Roofing to repair a leak over my garage and adjoining bedroom. The company representative came out inspected and gave me a price for the repairs. I have a Tile roof and was under the impression that the tiles would be removed and the repair the leak that was under the tile and then replace tile back. They came out and placed this horrible black tape like material on top of the tiles that extended to the eves and the frame of the house over the paint on my house. I contacted the company and spoke to the project manager who informed me that they would make it right. The company came back out and their solution was to paint the black material with red paint. I then called them back at which the company representative that gave me the quote came back and said *** it looks bad and that he would get with his manager and get back to me that day. Well I heard from him 3 days later with a new quote of over $5700.00. To remove the tape and to repair it the correct way. I had already paid over $2200.00. I called them back and their response was to send me another email with a $1200.00 discount. I am a senior citizen and feel that I have been deceived and taken advantage of. The repair that they have done to my roof has defaced the look of my home. My request is to have them repair it correctly that should have been done in the beginning and remove all the tape they put on my roof.Business response

Customer had leaks in his house. We were shown the leaks and identified the issue. During our inspections we found a flashing issue at the ducts ***** locations on his roof. We saw a previous repair done on the dutch ***** that looked normal and good. We presented a similar repair using a product called Wakaflex. Wakaflex is an approved product in ******* used for flashing details that are not smooth and uneven. It is a superior product that is widely used in the roofing industry by professionals. We fixed the leaks and customer paid. Customer called our office complaining that the *** did not like the black Wakaflex. We do not include painting in our quotes as we are roofers and not painters. To help the customer out, we had our repair team go back to the house free of charge and paint the Wakaflex a terra-cotta color to match the tile. Our service writer had shown the customer what the Wakaflex looked like and even took a picture of the house and drew on it showing him the repair option. Customer also had a similar repair done previously that had been painted so he understood what he was getting. The customer now wants us to remove the tile and replace the tile. We offered a new contract with the new work requested but the customer wants this work done for free. Even with this new work the customer wants, which is not necessary as the leaks have stopped he will still have the Wakaflex flashing on top of his tile. Flashing is designed to keep water on top of the roof to direct water off the roof.
In conclusion we performed the scope of work that the customer signed off on and he paid his bill in full. He now wants a new contract for a different scope of work but does not want to pay for it.Customer response

New roof was installed last Monday I paid half upfront. They left holes in my roof, I told them and they came out to fix.... put one tube of caulk, did not fix holes or damaged wood... I assume flashing is missing since I can see daylight. They are requesting payment of the final half while holes are still in *******.Business response

We went out to investigate the customers concern. We found the holes the customer was concerned about were normal holes that are necessary, the holes were for the dryer vents, regular vents and bathroom vents. These vents do allow light into the attic when it is sunny outside. We found no other issues when we were onsite.Initial Complaint

CB Roofing put a new metal roof on in Feb. I noticed the roof would leak in the bathroom when it rained near the vent and there was water on the bathroom ceiling. I called in June and they said they would call me back to schedule a repair but they never did. I sent them an email 3 weeks ago. They still have not come to fix the roof. I now have black mold growing on the ceiling. They did not show up today even though I called and was told they are in their way.Business response

I moved into my condo March 2020 during the reroofing of our association. CB Roofing had several issues identified, prior to my purchase, by an independent inspector hired by the board. His report states: "Replacement of all the roofs is recommended". I trusted that CB Roofing would address and clear up any issues. To my surprise I had my air conditioner go out only to find out that the electrical junction box on the roof was left hanging. See attached photo. At my own expense I had the issued repaired. I studied in detail the three independent inspections with pictures of the defects. Each time CB Roofing claimed repairs were made. The electrical junction boxes are an issue, I don't understand why because the contract states it includes the electrical. The CB Roofing contract states: misc: HVAC scope Provide and install 15 aluminum stands secured to the building per code requirements. Includes electric and permitting. I volunteered this year to be a member of the board of directors for our association. On March 21, 2022, a drone photographer was hired to help each unit owner see their roofs. Much to my surprise one of my bathroom roof vents is missing. In my attic is the exhaust fan is attached to a tube running up to the bottom of the roof. The TPO has covered up the opening in the roof. Mr. B. it saddens me to see the path this roofing project has taken. If the job was completed in a competent way the independent inspector and lawyer would never have been hired. These issues have cost our association thousands of dollars. How would you react if this was your personal roof that had all these issues? Please, Mr. B., lets us bring this issue to a close. I understand there have been some unforeseen circumstances that have interfered with this situation. The frustrations and lack of trust needs to be put behind us.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/03/30) */ ****, We stand behind out work and contract. We have never disagreed with any of the contracted repairs or the reports from the inspectors. We have been trying for over a year to get approval to come out to the property and finish the work and have been denied each time. All communication is suppose to go through the lawyer the association has hired. We have not been informed of the covered vent that needs to be correct. Please direct all communication through your associations lawyer so we can get the athorization to make the correction to the vent. Also as soon as we have the approval to return to address the rest of the items in the reports we will be able to finish the project. Consumer Response /* (2000, 7, 2022/03/30) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Thank you for your quick response. I will work with the board and the lawyer to get these issues addressed.Initial Complaint

(my daugter was present during the conversation_ and that i had to discuss it with my husband before we make a dission, We decided to go with another company, when I contacted CB roofing and told them we were going with another company, they said I signed a contract. I told Brett who contacted my that I sighned for a quote. Now they sent a bill for 1500.00 for cancelation fees for a contract I did not sign. Tyler did not say it was a contract that I was signing and that it was a quote.Business response
