On 2/16/23, a contract was signed with Gold Seal Roofing to reroof our home. Despite assurances that we were on the schedule, several months passed without any progress. Subsequently, a representative from Gold Seal visited to obtain our signature for the permit, but by late 2023, our roof was still not addressed. The temporary tarp installed by Blue Roof had worn thin, leading to flooding during a rainstorm, causing severe damage to our ceilings, walls, and floors. When we contacted Gold Seal, they promised to expedite our roofing job and we reminded them of our existing contract, to which they admitted their oversight. After requesting a discount, they agreed to $400 off, but failed to follow through in a timely manner. When another storm tore the roof's tarp, it became evident that Gold Seal had once again failed to fulfill their obligations. We were initially open to covering the damages ourselves, but given Gold Seal's lack of action, we are now compelled to seek financial compensation for their negligence.Business response

This verbal response was taken by BBB.
At the time, the customer could not demonstrate their ability to pay and we withdrew from this job and the permit application on 7/28/2023. The next time we heard from him was 5/4/2024 when he tried to secure financing again unsuccessfully.
No work was performed. No payment was taken.

I am rejecting this response because: its a flat out lie. Its nice to have on record the lie. A simple subpoena of records can prove our point. We hoped it would be easy.
Sincerely,

I never had a signed contract with that company. Then a guy name ********************* me via text saying that I had said yes when I did not. There is no paperwork no signed contract. Nothing all he did was email me a bid. How was he able to pull a permit without any sort of contract? Now he wont withdraw the permit, and I have asked him nicely. All Im trying to do is have ******* repaired by the damage caused from hurricane ***. I would like to get this resolved before hurricane season. All I want is for him to withdraw the permits for *******.Business response

Sorry for your inconvenience. The permit was pulled in error and we have been working with the building department to have it released. It should not hold up other roofing permits.

In March of 2019, Gold Seal Roofing installed a new roof on my house. In June of 2021, leaking occurred in the ceiling of my garage. I called Gold Seal Roofing and left several messages which were not returned. Week 2, I called and left several message which were not returned. Week 3, I called and the owner Richard C. answered. I explained the problem and he promised to call me back the following week to schedule an inspection of the leak. Week 4, I received no call back. I called and left messages weeks 5 and 6 but no call back. Week 7 I had another roofer look at the roof and was informed that the flashing was pulled loose during the roof install and needed replacing. Week 8 I had a second roofer look at the leak and was told the same thing (also said some singles would need to be pulled up and replaced in order to replace the flashing). Week 9, I called Gold Seal Roofing and left messages. Calls not returned.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/08/31) */ The roof was installed for a previous owner and was out of warranty when the current homeowner called. That being said, the leak was described as minor and Gold Seal Roofing offered to repair it regardless when a repairman became available. It was explained to the customer that the company is short-staffed due to the rainy season and to Covid protocols. It took several weeks to get a repairman on-site but the leak was identified as a post-installation flashing issue and was repaired on August 31, 2021. Consumer Response /* (2000, 7, 2021/09/01) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Gold Seal Roofing sent a two-person crew out on August 31 to repair the leak. They replaced the flashing which was pulled loose during their installation of the roof in March of 2019 and replaced several rows of singles around the flashing at no cost to me. So long as the repair doesn't leak, I will consider the matter resolved and I will pay the cost to repair the damaged ceiling in the garage. Thank you for your assistance in getting the business to make this repair before more damage was caused from the leak.
