I went to drop off some groceries to my sick daughter. I parked in a parking spot close to my daughters apartment. I took the groceries in and made sure my daughter didnt need anything else and that she was ok. When I can back my car was gone. I was only gone a few minutes. When I went to go get my car the driver was very rude. I told the guy I was only gone a few minutes why did you tow me. He said I should have parked in visitors parking. I explained to the driver the visitor parking was full and I was only going to be a few minutes. He did not care and he knew I just parked in the spot. He waited until I got out the car to tow me.

I am rejecting this response because: The tow driver did an unlawful tow. The driver even told me he saw me parked. He said he had to get his money.

      Sincerely,

There needs to be more laws done to inform consumer about these places. From the office we rent from to them. There is no way to personally know all statues and things that are considered illegal parking especially when things are in a very grey area. The prey on people who already cannot afford rent and take our cars so we cant take our children to school and take ourselves to work. There needs to be clear definition of what is considered wrong and right.

My SUV was towed last night because I was over to much in a parking spot. Everyone parks there everyday. Someone is parked there now. But because my SUV is newer they decided to randomly tow me Friday night and charge me $237 to get it out plus storage fees. I have stayed in these apartments for 4 years and I've parked there multiple times.

Split Second Towing came to my house at 4:00am in the morning, on their predatory towing ****, and took two of my cars that were parked in front of my house! They gave me a false reasoning as to why. Did not follow my HOA protocols for violations and tried to blame it on my neighbor. They are dishonest and disrespectful. They will take your own car that is parked in front of your own house and charge you $200 to get it back. Its a shameless way of generating revenue. They came all the way to ********* from Broadway in ***** to make a quick buck.

My vehicle was towed by Split second towing and transport inc. 6/13/22 from XXXXX Causeway Blvd in Brandon Florida to their Storage facility on Adamo Drive. When I went to their lot located at 7203 East Broadway Avenue in Tampa Florida in an attempt to pay to pick up my vehicle, I was told that the fee way $350 for the towing charge, $35 for the mileage, and $50 for the storage. I have a 1993 Tioga Montana and these are the specs for my vehicle Horsepower: 145 to 230 HP Fuel tank capacity: 35 gal Dimensions: 212" L x 80" W Gross vehicle weight rating: 9,400 lbs Engine: 4.9L V6, 5.8L V8, 7.3L V8 diesel, 7.5L V8 Configurations Base 4.9L V6 With these specific details of my vehicle I believe that I was overcharged for the towing and I am requesting a refund for the difference. I was charged as if my vehicle was a Class C Vehicles - 16,001 or more pounds or vessels which are more than 22 feet but in all actuality I should have been charged the rate for Class B Vehicles - 10,XXX-XXXXX pounds or vessels which are 16-22 feet. I explained this to the workers at the location on Broadway yesterday, the gentleman servicing me instructed me to call the main number and ask to speak to the manager because "he doesn't set the rates". I also told him I did not feel comfortable signing the bottom of the liability release form due to me not knowing what condition my vehicle was in with it not being there at the location. The form also had checked off that I was arrested, that was obviously not true, I asked why that was marked off and he then scratched that off and proceeded to give me the clipboard. So I called the (XXX) XXX-XXXX number as instructed and let the woman know my concerns, she told me someone would be reaching out to me soon. After hanging up I asked the gentleman to Give me my money back that I had given him until we could get the amount of money due straightened out and he refused. He said there are no refunds. I am owed $190. They overcharged me and broke the law!

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/06/20) */ This situation was handled and $190 was refunded. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/06/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The business did refund me the $190 for the overcharging for the towing however I will be filing claim through my insurance carrier for the damages incurred to my vehicle as a result of the tow and how they backed it into the lot they kept it in.
