I contacted BOCC (water co.) in Hillsborough county regarding an issue with my water bill. The automatic line said one thing and my bill said something totally different The representative indicated they forgot to add fees for sewage consumption and said a new bill was on the way. I explained that if I wait the bill would be late and the representative said there's nothing she could do. I also noticed she had me on a speaker phone while working from home. I feel this is a violation of my privacy rights because who knows who's there looking and listening at info on my account. I received two calls from supervisors basically defending the representative stating if she wanted to she could pull up her neighbors info and they would happily give the information to a stranger. This behavior is unacceptable and deceptive. Spying on strangers utility bills is criminal. This supervisor admitted that she can call and get anyone's information and admitted she would give it willingly. I'm disgusted by this information especially with all the identity theft going on.

My disabled and visually impaired mother had a note posted on her porch door in the amount of $475 dollars to be paid to the Hillsborough water dept. or they would shut off her water. Upon investigation I contacted customer service whom gave me the number to have the emergency tech go out to the premises and investigate the meter by the county sewer line. This was on the 14th of February. In turn I was instructed that if it the city's problem my mother will receive credit. Yesterday I was told that they repaired the water meter and I should let customer service know that it was no fault of the property. I've done so with the email they gave me. My mother called me to tell me that she has no water. They shut off my mother's water!! I contacted them only to be rerouted to an individual that during our conversation told me my mother didn't pay her bill since November. Her bill is automatically paid by the bank and upon speaking with the bank they turned down the payment because they said, Hillsborough water dept sent in a bill for 275.00 and they knew my mom's bill runs from 44-52 dollars a month. This lady that I was talking to kept saying hello, my phone has all bars so I couldn't understand why she wasn't hearing me. She also has my number and did not call me back. I attempted to call them again and I am getting a voicemail. I am outraged that they would actually shut off my disabled mother's water after I noticied them not to and explained that the excess amount was not my mother's fault and it was repaired by their emergency tech. They ignored my email and shut off the water today. This is a disgrace and they should be ashamed of themselves. This women was looking for my 85 year old mother to make payment arrangements. This country is so hard up that they would take advantage of this women when they should realize that my mother has never had a water bill that high since she's been in that house in 1991. Shameful.
