Looking to earn extra income working from home? Don't bother applying to fake shipping business. It's a con, and your work may help scammers. This scam has reappeared many times in the past few years and is surging once again.
How the scam works
You receive an email offering you a job at a shipping service. The company is hiring "agents" to package items and mail them overseas. The position reimburses "agents" for their expenses and pay a monthly stipend. It sounds like easy money, so you accept the job. You hand over personal information to get signed up and on the payroll.
Soon, your first assignment arrives. You are asked to ship something - often electronics, but sometimes other goods - to an address overseas. You send off the items, but your payment never arrives. You've been conned, and you may have just helped scammers move illegally obtained goods.
Watch out for variations on this scam, such as requests that could open you up to ID theft. Some victims reported sending a copy of their driver's license with their "job application," which gave scammers their name, address and photo. A 2020 BBB report found that 65% of fake online job postings are related to becoming a "warehouse distribution coordinator" or a similarly-titled position involving package reshipment.
How to spot a reshipping scam
- Be very cautious of any job that asks you to share personal information or hand over money. Scammers will often use the guise of running a credit check, setting up direct deposit or paying for training.
- If a job looks suspicious, search for it in Google. If the result comes up in many other cities with the exact same job post, it is likely a scam.
- Check out the business' website. Scammers often falsely use the names of real businesses. Check on the business's site or give them a call to confirm the position exists.

*Scammers use a physical address to appear more legitimate. The address usually has no connection to the scam business.
Investigation Details:
Since October 2021, BBB started to receive complaints and/or BBB Scam Tracker Reports concerning employment opportunities with Easy Way Delivery System, LLC. A job seeker contacted BBB, alleging they were hired without an interview and asked to process packages that were sent to their home address from the business clients, and send them out under their own name. The business also wanted the employee to fill out a form to provide information of their personal bank account.
1). The website, www.easywaydelivery.com, was created on August 23, 2021.
2). The business website claims to be headquartered in Charlotte, NC, however they only list a Tampa, FL address.
3). BBB could not locate any federal or state registrations to verify if the business is located in Florida or North Carolina.
4). BBB was not able to locate the required license for services listed per their advertising.

Im in such desperation for work that I applied on a trusted site that I usually use "indeed" and I noticed our opening for mailroom clerk posted for New York New York for construction company LLC (I have the proof) after applying a Mary D. called me and had a very very short brief interview which sounded like a recording system but with a human voice. She told me about the job I excepted everything sounds so good I was excited. She then sent me the phone for me to fill out "employment forms" and I proceeded to do that. I started working October 26, 2021 and my payment was due November 26, 2021 the description of the job was to receive packages inspect them pack them back up and send them off to their assigned destination via UPS FedEx DHL USPS. Once the payment date became near I sent the email questioning will I get paid on the exact date that my work portal said that I will be paid on however Thanksgiving was Thursday so I assume that it was gonna be late being that that Friday was supposed to be my payday I emailed her and asked her was she sure that the holiday would not affect the payday she explained that it wouldn't. On my work portal I noticed I had three packages coming so I wasn't really worried but I noticed in the tracking information it said shipping information N/A. Once Friday came I did not get my direct deposit I send over all my bank information they have my personal state ID information everything that can possibly put me in a hole and I really trusted them. I emailed her on Friday stating that I did not get paid and I did not hear back from her I figured since it was just a holiday maybe she was just busy so I waited till Saturday. Still no response now I'm really worried but then again it's the weekend so I give her till Monday. I sent a couple emails from Friday to Monday in regards of my payment I did not get any calls any emails I tried to call there was no response They blocked me from everything and scam me I went broke bills backed up.
