My name is ***********************. I am writing because I filed my taxes with tax Starz of Tampa and they have been a nightmare from the beginning. I filed my taxes because they seemed great. *****, responded quickly and I really appreciated that. Then I got approved for an advance that I got charged for and I only got a portion of. I got the remainder almost the same time I got my return. They filed my Connecticut state tax and that was fine but then they filed my Ohio State return and it came back declined because they missed the school code and then they have been nonresponsive and telling me different story after different story when they do respond. So I had to drive an hour away to go there in person only for them not to be there that day and then I had to go back the next day to file in person and ****** said that she fixed my return and submitted it paper and the *** is still showing that they havent even received it. No one will respond to me and when they do no one seems to know whats going on. Im aggravated because April 15 is coming And I would like to have this matter resolved because they messed up my returns and ** having to chase them around constantlyInitial Complaint

2/23/24 *** post hours of operation, However NOBODY is ever available to assist you. You call leave various message, drop by the office and its ALWAYS closed. I'm so fed up with the Unprofessionalism and lack of communication, I would expect that a tax company doesn't make these kinds of mistakes during such an important time. I have to suffer because of their mistake, I paid them to file my taxes and this is the type of treatment I get, I want my money back for that as well, in addition to my taxes.Initial Complaint

Jan 2nd **** did my taxes and applied for an advance. Whic per there FB page has no credit checks and based off refund amount. After that day I have spoken to him through email one time. When you call they tell you they will have him call you but he never does. I was denied for the advance and per the papers I signed Im to be charged ******. I asked him for an updated schedule of fees and now once again I havent heard from him. That was 5 days ago and still no response. He tells you he has emails and apts however can keep up with the apts he already had. The customer service is horrible on top of luring people in with getting a refund advance and then lying about how you get aprvd. In one of his emails he told me the more you come to them the better you chances are which was NEVER told to me as I was a first time customer. I should have done more research before coming here but now trying to warn as many people as possible. Save your time and money and do it yourself. Turbo tax walks you through the process. All they are doing is punching in numbers from your w2 which is the same exact thing you do with turbo tax. This company should be fined for what they are doing. Taking advange of people and lying to make more money for them and then not answering so they dont have to deal with the consequense.Customer response

We will keep you updated as promised on your refund, but I cannot help you any further than that until that review you left on ****** is removed. That wasn't right and I wouldn't have done it to you even if I had had the worst experience of my life at your company. That kind of thing can hurt an entire company, all of its employees, not just the person you worked with. There are 6 people here who will be out of a job if anything happens to us, two of them besides myself who are salaried who rely entirely on us.
I understand that you are upset over refund advance, anybody that is denied would be and we see it every year with some of them being impossible to make happy no matter what we do. We do not have control over the loan decision as much as I would like us to. I also know that some people have had misconceptions about how it works. We clearly explain to you that you can get a lower amount when we go through everything with you and I have been beyond maticulous about that this year. We are probably going to put more than one possible scenario on the breakdown sheet for next year. I also know that we have not always gotten back to everyone right away but if you had two receptionists and four tax preparers who were dealing with 800 people in a two week period you would know why. I'm sorry that you have had to wait for a reply, but when it's that busy there's not much we can do. We will always answer your questions even if it takes a little while and as often as possible we will get back to you at least the same day. After January we usually are able to get back to people a little faster because the ********** cools off.
Also, just so you know, we prepare tax returns in our own professional software on the actual tax forms. You would have seen that if you had come to the office in person. We do not answer questionnaires or click buttons. I myself can prepare any type of tax return by hand, on paper, which is becoming rarer and rarer these days.
Regardless of anything else, I do appreciate you coming to us, and like I said, we will keep you updated until the refund has been released by the IRS.

I heard back from them however they will not reduce their fees. They said they are not charging me for the advance which they cant anyway because it was denied but still are taking almost 200 dollars to file a tax return for head of household. I want my fees reduced and no one will write me back. They just said I'll get text alerts on Saturdays about any movement.

I contacted TaxStarz of Tampa Bay to complete an amendment to a 2020 State Tax return in May of 2022. I was working with *********************. Originally, I had not included Oregon Rule ************ in my original filing and wanted to make sure it was done correctly on my amendment. I explicitly asked for this amendment and any other items I missed to be noted. I sent my amendment to ****** in late July of 2022. I also reached out to TaxStarz of Tampa Bay about fixing this concern on November 9th of 2022 stating that my ****** Income Tax had been turned over to collections. Instead of citing this at my request, my TaxStarz of Tampa Bay Representative instead cited code 319, stating that i am part of the national guard, military, active duty or reserve. This is not my case. I have been asking for this to be corrected since November 9th 2022, and have had multiple phone and email correspondences telling me it will be updated that week. On January 20th, I was told "Please check your email in about 30 minutes. I'm sending you a signed copy so that you can print it out and send it to both without having to wait for one to arrive in the mail.". I never received an email. Since this last correspondence on January 20th 2023, I have called and emailed weekly. I have been told on the phone each week that this will be resolved and I will receive an email, only to not receive anything. I have not been responded to by email since January 20th. I would like this to be fixed. I used to be able to reach their ************** phone number, but now I am automatically sent to voicemail where their mailbox is full and not accepting calls. I am being completely ignored after this amendment was misfiled, and after I was told both in email and by phone multiple times that it would be resolved.
