April 2024 I received a letter from United Business Regulation with a ************** address of ***************************************** Indicating I, as a small business owner, had to py $118 and complete Form 4022 or pay a $10,000 fine. It said to send a check or money order payable to the US Business Regulations ***** This is definitely a SCAM.Initial Complaint

Received a letter from US Business Regulations ***** asking to fill out a form 4022 and send $118 in filing fees. Within a letter there was a section that threatened a larger penalty for noncompliance. Upon doing some research I came to a conclusion that this is a scam. My biggest issue here is that this scammer is impersonating a US Government, which makes it easier for a lot of law-abiding citizens to fall victim.Initial Complaint

I received a form 4022 from the United States business regulations department for a mandatory beneficial ownership reporting they charged me $117 by check that I wrote on March 4 and it was cashed March 18. I received another letter asking for $117 again and looked for a number to call to tell them I already paid it and that is when I found all kinds of websites stating that this is a scam I went to my bank and reported it they had me reported to the United States post office, who was also looking into it, and told me to notify the Better Business Bureau and the credit companies experience etc. I am not sure here and I would to get my $117 back and prevent this from happening to someone else its under my business name The Shear Shack at ***************************************************************************. My check that was written was from my personal account under ******************* with my home address of **********************************. They also have the *** number to the business and my Social Security number and I am closing my bank account and opening a new.Initial Complaint

This business sent me a mail form that closely mimicked a form from the *** "Form 4022", which does not exist and attempted to extract all personal and business information via a form and fee of 117 dollars under threat of ruinous fines and going to prison. It is not a United States Government entity, and impersonating the *** or a Government branch is not legal. All forms in the state of Virginia for business registration and filing are done at the end of the year, not during tax season. This business is stealing personal information for harmful use and should be reported to the authorities before someone gets their identity or money stolen.
