We contracted for 2 projects with the company. The first was completed promptly and we are satisfied with the work. The second project, installation of a new entryway, requires HOA approval of the plans and provision of appropriate documentation of liability insurance. The contractor has not supplied plans that meet the code for **********, **. ********** requires a pass through for an extension cord so that the wall outlet can be used. I have made several requests and have not received updated drawings.

      Business response

      02/29/2024

Pool cage was completed satisfactory, for $11500
She paid $11000 instead, shorting $500 but ended up paying the remaining $500 after we reminded her of the full amount for that job.
Front entryway is worth $1500; we have not started work yet since the *** will not approve the plans. Due to the nature of custom doors we require $650 upfront, which is nonrefundable so that we arent stuck with the doors. Her *** does not want to approve the custom door or the drawings for the front entryway, so we cannot move forward with the job. Our scope of the job was to just install the door, however we have spent time and resources as courtesy that we should have charged for, including 8 drawings that were sent and rejected by the *** due to no fault of ours. We do not work for the *** or act as a liaison between her and her ***, she has to settle the approval with her *** before hiring a business to do this type of work she is asking for. ***s have been more and more strict on what they will or will not approve, so we will not be working with clients who live in *** communities moving forward. The *** has a monthly board meeting where she should attend and have them review and approve the plans. We recommend that if she resubmits the plans to her *** with a square notation on drawings for the electrical location in the front entryway, they will be more likely to accept although we cannot control what the board approves.
We previously offered to either drop off the door since she paid for it, and to do the work once she received *** approval.
At this point our offer remains to drop off the door, however we will not be moving forward with the job due to the abusive behavior she displayed toward us. We cannot control what her *** approves, she should have cleared this scope of work prior to contacting us. We only charged $650 for the custom door order, which is nonrefundable; we are willing to drop the custom door off and she can have another business of her choice do the front entry work. As no work was started on the entryway, we did not charge her for the labor.

      Complaint: 21253703

I am rejecting this response because:

The company has repeatedly told me that they will amend the drawing, and the door, so that it will meet building codes for **********.  This is not an HOA issue. This is a company that is trying to sell me a door that will not meet the building code for **********.  This is a part of standard business practice to comply with building codes.

      Sincerely,
